Choosing the right color combo for your wedding is a decision that will affect almost every element of the big day, so we asked wedding planners to weigh in on what will be the hottest combos this year.

“Pantone's color of the year is greenery and while that is specifically a light yellow-green, people are using the name and making their own interpretations,” says Danielle Rothweiler of Rothweiler Event Design.

In fact, actual greenery is popular with brides this year. “Whether it's garland across a table or down a banister, brides want it at their wedding. It's a really classic look and works in any venue for any style because you're not limited to the type of greenery or the shade of white or whites that you want to use,” says Rothweiler.

Lots of clients are now opting for bold color palettes that grab their guests’ attention from the moment they walk into the reception, says Brian Green of By Brian Green. “These colors are not for the faint of heart but they are gorgeous and show off a bold happy personality. They are classic, but definitely speak to a millennial client who craves a new take on ‘timeless.’”

"We're seeing a real mix up of metallics, instead of brides simply selecting a primary color and pairing it with a complementary hue,” says Kylie Carlson of International Academy of Wedding & Event Planning. “One of my favorite combinations of 2017 will be gold metallics mixed with bronze hues. It gives the celebration a more edgy feel while paying homage to the industrial designs on trend currently."

This year is shifting towards monochromatic pairings versus the old mix-and-match color pallets. There are lots of monochromatic color schemes in these areas, Jessica Herrington of Clinkery.

Packing more punch than your typical blush, the orange-rose tones keep the color palette modern, fresh and not too feminine, says Marilisa Martel Schachinger of Martel Event.

While this might seem like an odd mix of colors, Chancey Charm Nashville Wedding Planner Ashley Silver promises that "it looks amazing!"

It can give either a very vintage / retro 1920's vibe (when added to pearls) or it can be a very clean, crisp modern aesthetic, says Green. “It is a very versatile color combo.”
