Today you all are going to get a real treat, because the GORGEOUS and TALENTED Carmel is going to be showing us her closet today.

Carmel blogs everything home related over at Our Fifth House, and this girl is GOOD.

Want some proof?

Click HERE to see how she made a simple change in her kitchen, but in doing so added TONS of impact!  Even I could do this, and that's sayin' somethin'.

Click HERE to see her newly screened in porch reveal.
And ladies.  It has some serious WOW factor.
I know.
Just take a moment to let all of the GORGEOUS sink in.

Now, before I let Carmel dive into her closet, I'm going to throw out a warning.

A Public Service Announcement if you will.

Ladies.

Be fully prepared to want to give your closet a total overhaul after seeing this post.

Because Carmel's closet was just a normal ol' closet, until she made it ROCK.

You're going to go through several different emotions while reading today's post:

1)

You're going to feel really sorry for yourself that your closet doesn't look like Carmel's.
Okay, maybe I'm projecting. ;)

2)

You're going to get angry thinking about how long it's going to take you to clean your closet out before you can even think about trying to organize it and make it look even kind of like Carmel's.
Again, maybe I'm projecting.

3)

You're going to go back to feeling sad for another minute or two because

OH THE HUMANITY OF IT ALL.

4)

You will wipe your tears and realize that you too can make some small changes to transform your closet into a space that you really love.

So, buckle up.  And get ready to hop on an emotional roller coaster.  Ha!

Meet Carmel!

(My commentary is in italics.)

Hey there, it's Carmel from Our Fifth House, and I'm thrilled to be included in this Closet Confessions series!  I believe every space deserves to be stylish, and I especially believe in the power of a well styled closet.  A pretty space motivates you to keep that space clean, neat and organized..........at least it does for me........mostly.  ;)  I won't pretend my closet looks this orderly all the time, but most of the time at least.

Carmel - PREACH IT!

I agree with you 100% on this.  I cleaned out my closet several months ago and organized it REALLY well...and it's still clean!  Usually I clean it, step back and admire my work, and then it looks like FEMA should come in by the end of the next week.

But a REALLY good cleaning and organization made me work hard to keep it looking good!

Welcome to my closet.  It's not huge, but it is a decent size walk-in.  I have to share it with my clothes-loving man (yes, they do exist), so staying organized is the key to the success of our marriage to keeping it from utter chaos.

As you can see from the photo above, we share our closet space pretty evenly.  My man gets the top rack, and I get the bottom.

I installed a drapery rod to use for my hubs collection of ties, and I gave our basic shoe shelves a little campaign-style update with the help of a gold sharpie.

Carmel.  I have no words.

You made ties look like art, and you made an inexpensive shoe shelf look like furniture.

Color me jealous impressed.
I MEAN YA'LL!  Look at what some black spray paint and a sharpie did for those shelves!
GOLD SHARPIE FOR THE WIN!

I make the most of our relatively small closet footprint by using as much of the vertical space as possible.

This molding shoe shelf is pure genius.  You should have a blog.  Oh wait...

To give our closet a little bit of fun I used a bunch of fabric scraps to "wall paper" one wall.

Gorg.

What is the item in your closet that you have the most of?

I have quite a lot of animal print.........shoes, belts, skirts, scarves, blouses, purses.........I'm a big time fan of animal print.  Leopard is after all a neutral.....am I right?!  I shared this shot on instagram a few months ago..............who you callin' an animal print lover?  ;)   Clearly I'm obsessed!

Meow.

What is the single most worn item in your closet?

Right now this black romper from Old Navy is in heavy rotation.  It goes with everything and is super comfy.  I even wore it on a recent trip to Disney World.

My little girlfriend loves rompers too!

But I'd have to say, the single most worn item of all time would have to be my Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans.  I literally wear them all. the. time.

Favorite pair of shoes?

My monogrammed chucks.

CARMEL!  HOLY MONOGRAMMED CUTENESS!

If everybody that knows Andrea listens closely, I'm pretty sure we can hear her choking on her hot tea and subsequently ordering some converse for her and Griffin and calling her monogram lady on speed dial.  Seriously, I give her until the end of the day.

Tell us the oldest item in your closet that you still wear.

I've literally had these short UGG boots since before my kids were born.  I think I got them right after I got married.........which was almost 14 years ago!  These boots have seen me through a lot - ha!  (And yes, even my workout wear is in animal print!  I told you it was an obsession!)

I don't own a pair of UGGs.  Actually, I should probably say that I don't own a pair of UGGs YET.

;)

Thanks so much for having me over here today Sheaffer!  Feel free to stop by Our Fifth House for more closet organization tips or a house tour!

*****
Carmel - thank you soooooooooooo much for doing this!
I am so inspired by your creativity and your desire to make every space functional and beautiful!
Now Carmel, you need to listen to me.
You know home decor and how to create beautiful, lovely, and functional spaces...but I know how to shop the Nordstrom anniversary sale.  We all have our own unique set of talents, rights?
(Yes.  I know that shopping isn't a "talent'....but just humor me girls.)  :)

I've got some more of my Anniversary Sale finds to share today, and a couple of them (found at the end of the post) are hand-picked for you Carmel!

If you popped over here today to see Carmel's closet and are new to these parts, then let me tell you about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and the Pinterest Told Me To Inside Scoop Group.
For those of you that aren't familiar, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale features NEW fall items at deeply discounted price points.  Right now the sale is only live for Nordstrom cardholders, but it will go live to the public this coming Friday (it's about dang time!).

Click HERE to see my FAVORITE FINDS that I highlighted on Friday.

(Friday's post includes my new MUST HAVE shirt, an $80 pair of booties and my new Frye boots!)
If you want to see the price points (both before and after the sale) and pictures of me in
all of the above items (& more), click HERE.

Click HERE to see me in a couple of leather jacket options and a shirt I fell in love with that comes in lots of different color choices and is 2 for $60 (regularly $48 each).

Now for some NEW items that I'm featuring!
And make sure you are following me on facebook HERE where I will continue to share
some sneak peeks!
And you can also follow me on instagram HERE!

Click HERE for this Herringbone print v-neck pullover (if you follow me on Facebook, then you saw this yesterday morning).
For size reference, I was wearing a small.
It has lace detailing down the sleeve and was just so pretty!
HOW CUTE IS THIS SHIRT?
$44.90 / After Sale $68

Two more items I posted on facebook last night that were both Favorite Finds!
Click HERE for the spike hinge bracelet and the knotted hinge bracelets.
I feel like these are the perfect bracelets to add to your stack in the fall!
$17.90 / After Sale $28
Click HERE for the gold MK watch.
$166.90 / After Sale $250

These next several finds are all from the Junior's department, which basically means they are all SUPER CRAZY reasonable.

Click HERE for this v-neck with elbow patches.
For size reference, I was wearing a small in this picture, but I ended up ordering a medium in the black for myself for a little bit more of a generous fit.
I think it will be so cute with some skinny jeans and my new Frye boots!
$24.90 / After Sale $38
Click HERE for solid colors (including the black that I got) and click HERE for stripe choices.
I do love the green stripes with my leopard belt!

Click HERE for this oversized cardigan sweater.

It looks like the grey is already totally sold out, but it's still available in a cream/taupe combination.

For size reference, I was wearing a small.

$38.90 / After Sale $58

I tried on THIS pair of jeans from the Junior's department, and I think they would be perfect for tall boots and tunic tops and sweaters.  They are very body conscious, and would tuck very nicely into tall boots without any jean scrunching.
SAY NO TO JEAN SCRUNCHING.

For size reference, I was wearing a 5 in these jens.
The sizing chart says a 5 is a 2, and I'm typically a 4 in ladies, so I guess I'm recommending for you to size down in these.  I hope all that makes sense.

$37.90 / After Sale $58

I also found THESE skinny cargo pants.

$35.90 / After Sale $54

For size reference, even though I wore a 5 in the above jeans by the same maker, I took a 7 in these pants.   According to the size chart, a size 4 should wear a 7, so these were true to size.

Carmel - if you want to add a new pair of UGGs to your closet, there are some available right now at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!  Click HERE for your choices!

Remembers only cardholders can shop now, but the sale will go live to the public on Friday (the 18th)!

And since we now know you LOVE leopard, I found some very reasonable leopard pieces in the Anniversary Sale that I thought you might want to see!

Click HERE for this faux-fur and wool blend coat from Jessica Simpson.

$129.90 / After Sale $218

Click HERE for the some super sexy calf hair leopard pumps (ONLY $59.90 / After Sale $89.95).
Do you love these Carmel?  I love the sexy shape!
I would totally recommend ordering a 1/2 size down (the Nordstrom shoe guy suggested this and was totally right).

There are also a pair of gorgeous Kate Spade heels HERE, but they are over $200.
Or if heels aren't your jam, click HERE for a foldable pair of leopard Yosi Samra flats.
And click HERE for a $12 leopard infinity scarf.

That's it for today girls!
Come back tomorrow everybody for my Bachelorette recap!
And whatever you do, make sure you come back Friday for my comprehensive Anniversary Sale post!  I will be reviewing some of my favorite things so they can be all in one place
making it super easy to shop...but I will also be featuring a couple of new FAVORITE FINDS
that I'm freaking out over!
Believe me, you don't want to miss these FAVORITES that I haven't shown yet!

xoxo,
Sheaffer :)

p.s.
Click HERE if you want to see the other Closet Confessions!
Lots of really great closets to see!

p.p.s.

After WEEKS AND WEEKS of waiting, my patience paid off!

THIS striped chambray dress from LOFT is now 50% OFF!  Lou and Grey items rarely go on sale, but I'm so glad I waited!

This really is the perfect summer dress.

I'm wearing an x-small in the picture (read the reviews, but personally I would recommend sizing down).  However, after seeing that petites are available online, I think I'm going to order a Petite Small.

Nearly perfect reviews on this dress, so check it out!!!
