Today we get to do some snooping in Shay's closet!!!
Good stuff.

The very second I came up with the Closet Confessions series back in January, I called Shay to see when she would be ready to show off her new closet (although at the time she was months away from even moving in!).  In true Shay fashion, she said she could do it in June, although she wasn't even moving in until the end of May!  The Shulls seriously move into a house and have everything in it's place within like 48 hours.  Like stuff is on the walls, candles are burning, and a bundt cake is in the oven within 48 hours.  It's down right freakish.  :)

That being said, if you've read this blog for longer than a couple of days, then you know how much I love this girl.
Shay is an incredible friend and such an amazing cheerleader.
I hope you all have good friend cheerleaders in your lives too!
In fact, Shay is the one that initially encouraged me to start this blog.
And let me tell ya, this whole blogging thing would be a whole lot less fun if I didn't have Shay to do it with.  I am so thankful that we've had each other on this little blogging adventure!
As you can see above, we always have such a great time hanging out.
And we have just as much fun during our early morning phone calls.
I'm not lying when I say that we have often been on the phone before 5:00 a.m.
Disclaimer here:  now that school is out for summer, this lady is sleeping in and no longer waking up before 5:00.  Shay's mornings must be lonely now without somebody to be able to call!  :)

Now....before I hand this over to Shay, just be prepared for the fact that you are going to want to move in to her closet before the post is over.
Just think...you could live in Shay's closet....and she can visit every so often bringing you bundt cakes (she's made over 100) and bars (she's now on the journey to making 100). It will be delightful.
Maybe she'll even bring you her latest bar that she just posted yesterday.
Oh yeah, baby.  Find it HERE.

Now, after you're finished trying on her Hunter boots and stuffing your face with bundts and bars, go ahead and stuff some scarves and some tank tops in  your bag and drop them by my house.
She'll never miss them.

Take it away Shay!

Eeks!  I was super excited when Sheaffer asked me to be one of her Closet Confessions!  I really think this might be one of my very favorite series that she does.
I just love seeing inside everyone's closets!

If you don't know me...I'm the Mix and Match Mama and I blog about everything from recipes to travel, family, entertaining, infertility, adoption and other random stuff that is my life.  I'm also one of Sheaffer's BFFs...and that is one of my favorite titles in the world :).

My family just spent the last 25 years 18 months building our new house and let me tell you, the master closet was high on my priority list (where the TVs were located within the house was high on my husband's list...).  We've been married 10 years and I've never had more than a single rack and a foot of floor space for all of my stuff.
My clothes were suffocating.  They needed to breathe...and now, they can.

Welcome to my closet...
Hold the phone. This is Sheaffer.  Everybody take a minute to appreciate the wallpaper.

When you first open the doors, I have a chandelier hanging from the ceiling instead of a normal light fixture.  We put it on a dimmer, so that I can make it really bright for seeing things or turn it down to make it kind of sparkle.  It's totally girly and really fun!

Speaking of girly and fun, I also put a leopard ottoman just inside the doors so that I have a place to sit down and put on my shoes.

And after 18 months of horrible selfies in a really bad mirror...

I made sure my new closet had a great full length mirror...

It's me again.  Shay, I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to be coming over to take all of my selfies.  I take a lot, so you might want to just go ahead and leave a key under the mat so I can

come and go as I please.

...now, I can really see myself :)...

...ahhh...much better than the mirror selfies I have been taking!

Speaking of this outfit...let me answer some questions that Sheaffer asked me...

What are your top 3 style staples?

In the summer, I live in shorts, a tee (almost always striped) and neutral wedges (everything in the above picture).  I wear this "uniform" grocery shopping, out to eat dinner and everywhere in-between.

Seriously, it's like a math problem when I get dressed...I mix and match those colored shorts and striped tees to create different combinations every day.  This is why I love the neutral wedge so much!  It always goes with everything.

My striped tees...

...my colored shorts.  I always wear J Crew's 3" Chinos.

They last forever and ever and wash beautifully.

And a few of my wedges.

During the fall/winter months, my style staples are boyfriend jeans with booties and little jackets and/or scarves...

We can all learn something about layering from Shay.  PILE THOSE LAYERS ON LADIES!

I love boyfriend jeans.  Love them.  My favorite are the Always Skinny jeans from Gap...I just roll them up and go.  I also like Gap's Sexy Boyfriend Jeans too.

Layer, layer, layer...that's what I do in the fall and winter.

In my new closet, I have room to keep my scarves rolled up and out so that I can easily spot them.  I am one of those people who wears scarves year around.  Light scarves are the perfect accessory in the spring and summer and heavier scarves are my favorite in the fall and winter.  I love, love, love me a good scarf!  Lots of scarves for under $25 can be found HERE.

(And as you can see, I also love me a good pair of Wellies too...).

Show us your most recent purchase...

At the end of spring, I bought this black leather moto jacket to wear next fall.  I absolutely love buying outerwear at the end of season because it's always drastically reduced.  This fall, I am going to be so happy I have my new jacket!

Hi.  Me again.  I knew Shay was wanting a jacket like this. Not too long ago I saw it online ON SUPER SALE one day while working on a post, I called her and told her the item number, and in about 25 seconds it was hers.

The girl knows what she wants, she loves a great deal, and she doesn't mess around.

Show us the oldest item in your closet...

Ironically, it's a brown leather jacket.  My Grandmother bought me this jacket for Christmas when I was 19 (13 years ago!) and I still wear it every single year....

See, here I am wearing it this last December.  Still love it!

What is your most worn piece of jewelry?

I wear one of these two gold watches every single day.  I love a big, chunky, gold watch.

gold watch with black face HERE / gold watch with gold face HERE /

Show us your best bargain.

I scored this jacket on sale off season.  I think it was originally $150 and I got it for $25.  It's lined and thick and perfect for winter!

Here I am heading off to the airport this last winter.  I love my plaid coat!

Is there one item you have several of?

Tank tops.  I wear a tank top every single day under my clothes.  I started doing this years ago as an extra layer and I really like how it makes my clothes look.  I have a shorter torso, so the extra layer makes everything kind of fit and lay better.  My very favorite tanks are from Gap!  They're long and wash and wear so well!

Favorite pair of shoes?

My leopard booties.  I bought these Steve Madden booties four years ago and wear them all.the.time.  I love, love, love them in the fall and winter with my boyfriend jeans!

I still get excited every time I put them on :).

Most worn pair of shoes.

These Steve Madden neutral wedges that I bought 2 years ago are my most worn pair of shoes.

They just go with everything!

Any closet organization tip you would like to share?

I keep my shirts organized by sleeve length.  I always know if I'm looking for a tank, a short sleeve, 3/4 length sleeve or long sleeve, so I organize them that way.

What is the item your hubby wears that you love him in the most?

My hubby wears a suit and tie to work every single day, so I see him dressed up a lot.  Therefore, I really like it when I see him in a baseball cap and his grubby clothes because it's not that often that I see him dressed down...and he looks super hot dressed down :).

What is the item your hubby has that you wish you could burn?

My husband has 4,826 old college tee shirts that he just can't part with.  We even had some of his favorites turned into a blanket (hoping he would toss the rest), but no...he has a huge collection.  They're everywhere!

How many items have you bought because Pinterest Told Me To told you to?

Listen, if you think Pinterest Told Me To gives good fashion advice to you over the internet, you should try shopping with her in person.  This girl has demanded forced persuaded convinced inspired me to buy so many of the items she features on this blog.  It is always so fun to shop with Sheaffer!

Thank you so much for letting me open up my closet and share it with you!

Aw, Shucks Shay!

You're too sweet!

And your closet is AMAZING.

One thing you forgot to show was your swimsuit drawer. Talk about mixing and matching potential!

I know Shay very well, and I know out of everything, the most worn item in her closet is without a doubt her neutral wedges.

The wedges she currently has are all sold out, but here are some other great neutral wedge options.

Shay big puffy heart loves her neutral wedges.

With glitter on top.

Whatever that means.

Here are some great options from Nordstrom and Last Call:

Sasha Wedge HERE ON SALE (top left) /

Tarika Platform HERE ON SALE (top right)

Karina wedge HERE (bottom left) / Ilario wedge ON SALE HERE (bottom right)

And I've actually found some other options that would be perfect for Shay.

They are high and sassy.

steve madden wedge HERE  /  jessica simpson wedge HERE

But for those of you that can't rock a high wedge like Shay, check out THIS pair.

Here's one of the 5 star reviews:

Must have!

Have been wanting these for a while & finally went through with it...so happy I did! I'm blown away with how comfortable they are right out of the box! I'm usually a 6.5, but decided to order a 7 since I have wide feet & they fit perfect!

A must have for summer!

Ooh!  One more option HERE that isn't super high, but they are super cute!

I've had these on and they are very comfortable.

AND THEY ARE 40% OFF RIGHT NOW, making them under $50..
and they actually come in lots of color combos!

And Shay...I know that scarves are your love language.

Did you see these two that I highlighted on Friday?
Cick HERE for the navy and aqua fringe scarf.
Click HERE for the pink and green embroidered infinity scarf with black accents.
These are both greatness and so very affordable!
The leopard infinity scarf from Wednesday is already sold out!  Dangit!

Or check out my #ilovescarf post from a couple of weeks ago HERE.

Also, Shay and I both swear by THESE hangers.

I only use the shirt hangers (ones on top).

I started out buying 10 one day. And then I've been back several times to buy 20 and 30 here and there.  No kidding.  Once you start using them you will eventually convert your entire closet to them.  They take up so much less space, they hang so nicely, and they hug your clothes!

Clothes need some hugging to you know.

Do you like peeking into other's closets?  If so, you can look back at the other guest posters!

See Erin's closet from Blue Eyed Bride HERE.

See Joni's closet from Lay Baby Lay HERE.

See Mandy's closet from House of Rose HERE.

See Andrea's closet from Momfessionals HERE.

Or just click HERE to see all of them in the same place.

THANK YOU SHAY FOR LETTING US PEEK INTO YOUR CLOSET!

We'll all be over in a bit to curl up on your leopard ottoman for a quick nap, borrow some jewelry and a scarf or twelve, and play dress up in some of your tanks and shorts.

Love You Friend!

xoxo,

Sheaffer :)

Let me tell you something about these jeans.  They are stupid flattering.
STUPID. FLATTERING.
I think they made me look AT LEAST 5 pounds skinnier.  At least.
I was super tall and super skinny in these jeans.
(FYI:  I showed my hubby this picture because I wanted him to see how tall and skinny I was in the jeans, and here's what he said......wait for it......."Are those jeans on backwards?"  I laughed so hard!)
Boys.

Click HERE for the 3" lace scroll denim shorts, NOT ON SALE, sorry!
However, I had put them in this collage so you get to see them.
For size reference, I was wearing a 4.
