Qualifications:

Qualified candidate will be a Professional Land Surveyor with at least 10 years of land surveying experience and a minimum of six years of experience in utility related field service operations. Required experience includes performing complex administrative and technical work that includes planning, directing and coordinating survey and field service activities to ensure that projects and programs are completed on time and within the scope and budget allowed. Knowledgeable in Florida surveying rules and regulations to provide surveys for land development, boundary surveys, topographic and ALTA surveys, and legal description development. Field services include SUE services, GPR, 811 utility locating and utility locating. Expertise in utilization and maintenance of survey equipment and SUE equipment such as: ground penetrating radar, vacuum excavation and electromagnetic locating equipment (Radiodetection 8000), magnetic locating equipment (Schonstedt), and GPS Trimble units with antennae. Will be required to manage the safety equipment and fleet maintenance.

Ideal candidate will be a personable self-starter who possesses strong communication skills and is dependable, detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously – enjoying marketing to new and existing clients, networking at various industry meetings, and communicating professionally with a variety of people including those working under their supervision, contractors, and clients. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Internet Explorer. AutoCAD is a plus. This position will require: working in environments with extreme temperatures and weather conditions, handling and operating heavy equipment, regular lifting/handling/carrying of materials or equipment of up to 50 lbs., the ability to push, pull, bend, twist, stoop, and climb ladders, and the ability to walk on uneven terrain. Position will require travel and overnight stays.

Responsibilities:

Performs complex administrative and technical work that includes planning, directing and coordinating field service activities to ensure that projects and programs are completed on time and within the scope and budget allowed. Serves as the office safety representative, conducting field safety meetings and assuring that field personnel are complying with company, OSHA, FDOT or other regulatory agency’s safety protocols. Applies for permits and prepares and submits 811 tickets for vacuum excavation and SUE projects. Works with project managers and engineers to assure the scope of each project, projects personnel needs, establishes work plans and assigns field personnel. Performs evaluations on assigned staff. Coordinates and manages all survey and SUE deliverables including signed and sealed surveys, legal descriptions and drawings, test hole forms, CADD drawings and test hole matrices. Performs evaluations on assigned staff. Evaluates client’s needs and recommends hiring of additional staff. Coordinates activities with government agencies, utilities and others as needed. Prepares MOT Lane Closure permits and coordinates equipment required for each project. Serves as a client liaison and is responsible for the business development of field services work, developing proposals, foreseeing slowdowns and seeking out additional clients. Responsible for the QA/QC of all survey and field services projects and provides emergency field assistance to disabled equipment as needed. Manages and maintains the fleet of office vehicles including collection of truck inventory and log sheets.
