PhD Assistantship in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources

A graduate research assistantship within the Natural Resources, Tourism, and Recreation (NATURE) Studies Lab in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University is available for a prospective PhD student interested in human dimensions of natural resources.  The successful candidate will work as a member of a large interdisciplinary team studying tradeoffs among ecosystem services in intensively managed forests.  This position begins in September 2016 and includes multiple years of monthly stipends, graduate tuition, and health benefits.

The ideal candidate has a: (a) well-developed interest in and understanding of social science approaches for examining human – environment interactions; (b) master’s degree in human dimensions of natural resources, social psychology, sociology, human geography, applied anthropology, applied economics, or a closely related field; (c) experience with survey methods and statistical analysis; and (d) excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience in stated preference methodologies (e.g., stated choice modelling, conjoint analysis).
