The police have not released much information
The homicide victim, who was found a Westfield Centre stairwell yesterday morning at 10:15 a.m., has been identified as Frank Galicia, a 28-year-old line cook at Sons & Daughters. Owners Teague Moriarty and Matt McNamara closed the restaurant Thursday to mourn the shocking death of their colleague.
Galicia’s coworkers anonymously told NBC Bay Area that the cook “was very funny, and they couldn’t figure out why anyone would kill him.” Though police released his identity and confirmed the death as a homicide today, they did not comment on what the motive, means of death, or timeline for Galicia’s death might be.
The 28-seat restaurant, located in the Tenderloin, opened in 2010, earning a Michelin star soon after. It’s known for a seven-course prix-fixe based on produce from the chefs’ Santa Cruz farm. Given the compact size of the restaurant, it’s a small, tight kitchen crew.
"We are shocked and devastated by Frank’s passing — we are a small team that operates like a close-knit family and he will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with Frank’s family and friends at this difficult time."
The mall remains open, though employees are understandable concerned for their safety. Stay tuned for more developments.
