May 11

NORTH BEACH —  The Speakeasy, Boxcar Theatre's immersive theatrical experience, will return this August with a brand new full-time, 9,050-square-foot space on the edge of Chinatown and North Beach (exact address to be determined). Previews for the show begin Friday, August 12, and tickets go on sale June 13. [EaterWire]

MARINA — The second location of Outer Sunset poke spot Poki Time will land inside the former combination Kentucky Fried Chicken/Taco Bell space at 2101 Lombard St. It’s a temporary lease, since the building is set to be demolished in coming years, but should open in June. [EaterWire]

BERKELEY — Half Moon Brewing Company is bringing its beers up north this summer, in the form of Pacific Standard, a combination taproom and bottle shop in downtown Berkeley at 2055 Center St. This is the first expansion of its kind for the brewery, which also has a restaurant at its location in Pillar Point Harbor, where it has operated for the past 16 years. PALO ALTO — Washington, D.C.-based salad chain Sweetgreen will open its second Bay Area location on Tuesday, May 17 at 581 Ramona St. [EaterWire]

WALNUT CREEK — San Francisco Giants fan favorite (and Willie Brown power lunch spot) MoMo's is expanding to the East Bay with a new location at 1444 N. California Blvd. It's their first expansion since opening in 1998. [Mercury News]

SOMA — Noman Coffee Co. will join the Duboce Truck Stop in a repurposed shipping container. The coffee shop's proceeds will support local artists. [Hoodline]

BERKELEY — Italian restaurant Giovanni will reopen this fall at 2420 Shattuck Ave. after closing last year after a fire. It will become a local pizzeria with an indoor Bocce court, redone bar, and a larger entrance. [Berkeleyside]

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Italian sandwich spot Wise Guy Deli will open at 214 California St. with big sandwiches at smaller prices, plus soups and side salads. [Hoodline]

SANTA ROSA — 4501 Montgomery Dr. is turning into Mountain Mike's Brewpub with craft beer and a full bar from the owners of Mountain Mike’s Pizza, Stoute Brothers, and Bibi’s Burgers. [Bite Club Eats]

OAKLAND — Amba Falafel at 6464 Moraga Ave. is becoming Fifth Quarter Charcuterie, a retail store with charcuterie, prepared foods, and sandwiches from Scott Brennan (Cafe Rouge), who has been selling charcuterie at farmers’ markets in Berkeley for five years. [Tablehopper]

SOMA — Another location of Blue Bottle is moving into the ground floor of 2 South Park, to hopefully open this fall. [Hoodline]

May 4

MID-MARKET — The owner of Mateo’s Taqueria is opening a restaurant in the Uber building at 1455 Market St. The full concept is still to be determined, but it will be a counter service spot with tacos, burritos and other Mexican fare. It’s expected to open mid-summer. [Hoodline]

MID-MARKET — Also heading to the Uber building is Kagawa-Ya, a 2,400-square-foot udon shop from chef Sean Lim and Katherine Lim. [SF Business Times]

MID MARKET — Finally, a third restaurant that will be an Italian cafe concept is also moving into the Uber building, but details are still to come. [SF Business Times]

CASTRO — Top Chef alum Ryan Scott (Market & Rye) is opening Finn Town at 2251 Market St. It will be a comfort food tavern opening this fall. [EaterWire]

MARINA — Hot pot is hitting the Marina at 2151 Lombard St. with Nabe II, an expansion of Inner Sunset spot Habe. It will be similar to the original and should open this month. [Hoodline]

OUTER SUNSET — Yum Yum Fish at 2181 Irving St. will become Lazy Fish, a sushi restaurant focusing on takeout. [Hoodline]

BAYVIEW — Bayview is getting its first Starbucks at 3801 3rd St. [Hoodline]

MISSION — Bargarin supermarket Grocery Outlet is expanding with two new locations in the Mission (1245 S. Van Ness Ave.) and Portola (1390 Silver Ave.). The Mission location is slated to open October 6 and the Portola store on August 18. [Hoodline]

POTRERO HILL — Dat Spot is turning into a mac-and-cheese restaurant called Mac Daddy from the same chef and owner. There will be 12 variations on the menu (all of which can be made gluten-free, because, SF), plus salads, soups, sides and entrees — see the full menu here. Mac Daddy will open Monday, May 2 every day from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. [EaterWire]

MISSION — Taking over the Coco Frio space at 2937 Mission St. will be a cocktail-driven restaurant and bar called Evil Eye from Matt Norris (Soluna). There will be a pool table and pinball machines. [Capp St. Crap]

EMERYVILLE — The Emeryville Public Market has two new stalls opening this summer: a Peruvian cafe called Granja Eatery from chef Carlos Altamirano (La Costanera) and a second location of Oui Oui Macaron. [EaterWire]

MISSION — A food hall named Foodhall is coming to 3100 16th St. with cheese and charcuterie, Counter Culture coffee, hot food for takeaway (or eating at one of the few bar seats), wine, liquor, pastries and product. It’s expected to open in May. [EaterWire]

FILLMORE — Clay Theater is making some changes to incorporate a full-service restaurant with beer and wine in its viewing room to compete with places like Alamo Drafthouse and Sundance Kabuki. [Hoodline]

OUTER SUNSET — Sunny Wheatfield Cafe, a branch of Fancy Wheat Field Cafe in Chinatown, is opening at 2305 Irving St. with cakes, desserts and Chinese pastries like egg tarts and pineapple buns. [Hoodline]

CHINATOWN — From the Ten Ren tea company owners comes Hanlin Tea Room at 801-809 Kearny St., which will serve Taiwanese food, tea and bubble tea. [Hoodline]

SOMA — San Diego arcade bar Coin-Op Game Room is coming to 508 4th St. and bringing craft cocktails alongside elevated bar food among tons of games. It is anticipated to open in late July. [EaterWire]

MISSION — Dum, the Indian soul food truck that got its start roving the streets of San Francisco and at various Off the Grid locations is moving into the old Local Mission Eatery space. Look for a mid-May opening. [EaterWire]

TENDERLOIN — Ales Unlimited, the Pacific Heights craft beer store is taking over 222 Hyde St. (currently The Basement) come May. Owners Steve and Betty Smith are turning the space into a craft beer bar called Ales Unlimited Beer Basement, which will have craft beer, ciders and wine by the glass. [Hoodline]

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — The charming Claude Lane will soon have a scoop shop for all FiDi workers and dwellers, courtesy of Oakland-born Little Giant Ice Cream, set to open at 214 Sutter St. later this month. [EaterWire]

BERNAL HEIGHTS — Isabel Caudillo is bringing her beloved living room Mexican restaurant and Noe Valley Farmers’ Market stand El Buen Comer to an official home at 3435 Mission St. It should open in May. [The Chron]

MID-MARKET — San Francisco’s booming Burmese scene will continue to grow: Burma Superstar owners Desmond Htunlin and Jocelyn Lee are opening a restaurant at 989 Mission St., but the concept is still under wraps. [EaterWire]

NOPA — Set to open this summer is Powder, a Taiwanese shaved snow shop at 260 Divisadero St. Taiwanese shaved snow is filtered water and Three Twins dairy ice flavored with mango, coffee, sesame and more and shaved to resemble freshly-fallen snow. [EaterWire]

TENDERLOIN — Tenderloin dwellers and United Kingdom natives Sharon and Jason Lindley (Bacchus Kirk) are opening a British-themed cafe in the neighborhood. Called the Scullery, it’ll have Brit cult-favorite PG Tips tea, SF cult-favorite Sightglass coffee and traditional dishes like Welsh rarebit. NAPA — In an effort to revitalize the space, the Napa Valley Opera House is bringingin NYC-based Blue Note, a jazz club and restaurant that will transplant its concept into the ground floor of the Opera House. [EaterWire]

SAN JOSE — The Halal Guys, the popular New York street food vendor, has announced plans to open a third Bay Area location in San Jose. The 1,200 square-foot space at 81 Curtner Avenue, Suite 20 has an estimated opening of May. [EaterWire]

MISSION — Taking over the former St. Vincent space, Barzotto aims to offer diners high-quality, but affordable pasta dishes. Michelle Minori has signed on as chef, leaving her position as executive chef of Ne Timeas restaurant group (Flour + Water, Aatxe, Central Kitchen, Cafe du Nord, Salumeria) to design a menu of simple but high-quality pastas. SAN FRANCISCO — Fisherman's Wharf's 3 Potato 4 has plans to expand to two new locations, one in the city and another in Palo Alto. The owner has hopes to open 50 locations on the West Coast in the next five years. [Hoodline]

DOGPATCH — Chef Daniel Patterson (Coi, Aster, Alta CA, Haven, Plum Bar, Alfred’s Steakhouse) is planning a new restaurant at the Minnesota Street Project, an affordable space for galleries and artists. Patterson’s restaurant won’t arrive until the fall, but it will service what the neighborhood wants, according to Patterson. [EaterWire]

SFO — Chef/owner David Lawrence is adding a second location of his Southern restaurant 1300 on Fillmore to the international terminal, post-security. The restaurant should debut in January 2017 and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. [EaterWire]

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — The country’s first USDA-certified organic fast food restaurant, The Organic Coup, is opening a location at 101 Spear St. with fried chicken in sandwich, wrap or salad form. The plan is to be open late March or early April. [EaterWire]

MID-MARKET — Doughnut Dolly, the East Bay shop specializing in filled doughnuts, is bringing its popular wares to a kiosk in the lobby of the conspicuously doughnut-less Twitter building, serving a selection of sweet, filled doughnuts alongside new savory offerings, coffee and sandwiches to-go. NORTH BEACH — After closing in 2014, O’Reilly’s Irish Pub in North Beach will reopen soon as Chief Sullivan’s, with a similar feel to O’Reilly’s. [EaterWire]
