TEMESCAL — Over at Blackwater Station, it seems that pop-ups have taken over. Fried-egg breakfast sandwich pop-up Cracked has now received permanent digs over at 4901 Telegraph Avenue; it’s open until 1 p.m. every day of the week. There’s plenty to be happy about with this week’s run-down of restaurant openings. Let’s start with Rooh, a gorgeous Indian restaurant that debuted in SoMa, and was easily the most anticipated restaurant opening of the week. Then there are the Filipino rice bowls now available in The Market, the Saison-trained roadside stand in Half Moon Bay, and Verve’s first SF coffee shop. And finally, Berkeley’s college students will also delight at the news that beer-and-burrito-happy Taco Bell Cantina is now open for business.

SOMA — Hotly-anticipated newcomer Rooh is now offering progressive Indian cuisine from its lush, technicolor interior at 333 Brannan St. Rooh is the first opening from Indian night club purveyors Good Times Restaurant Group and the menu offers inventive interpretations of classic Indian fare featuring Californian ingredients. MID-MARKET — New York-based Filipino rice bowl shop Manila Bowl has entered San Francisco’s casual dining scene with its first Bay Area transplant located inside The Market (1355 Market St.). BERKELEY — Pair your beer with a burrito at 2528-B Durant Avenue’s brand spanking new Taco Bell Cantina. SOMA — A vibrant Mexican-Filipino street food mash-up is vamping up 595 Bryant St. Little Skillet’s Deanna Sison Foster and Revival’s Sophina Uong have teamed up to create a taqueria-styled casual dining spot called Mestiza Taqueria which draws on Southeast Asian street food, Mexican taco-shops, and Filipino finger food. TENDERLOIN — After a year long delay, record shop-cum-cafe RS94109 is now serving up Thai iced teas and Stanza coffee from its modern, light-filled space at 835 Larkin St. The shop’s main feature is its extensive 80s-and-90s-focused record collection which you can appreciate by plugging in at the headphone-equipped listening stations. POLK — A neon-lit steampunk bar called Rusted Mule is serving boozy soft serve, on-tap mule cocktail selections, and other inventive beverages at 217 Sutter St. The kitchen currently offers a menu of light snacks like guacamole, garlic fries, and chips, but has plans for a full menu in the future [Hoodline]

INNER SUNSET — Japanese hot dogs are now available at casual fast food counter Takuya (716 Irving St). Both meat and vegan sausage options are available, along with a dessert list featuring mochi and matcha ice cream. [Hoodline]

MISSION BAY — Hotel Zephyr and K-OZ Restaurant & Brewery have added a fresh, American-focused food truck called The Camper to The Yard’s (100 Terry A Francois Blvd.) fleet of fast-food stopovers. BERKELEY — Gilman Brewing Company has opened at 912 Gilman St., featuring a funky beer list of American and Belgian farmhouse-styled brews. The current menu offers a smoked maple bacon brown ale (which is fermented with real bacon), a French saison, smoked porter, and an American stout. SEBASTOPOL — A Jamaican restaurant called Revibe has taken over the modern, window-filled space at 7365 Healdsburg Ave., serving a casual menu showcasing authentic iterations of the islander cuisine. HAYWARD — A revitalized version of Dirty Bird has reopened in a new location at 926 B St, that is purportedly “less-divey” than its old digs. SOMA — The team behind Garaje and Garajito have opened a tap room called G-Spot across the street from the Moscone Center at 251 3rd Street. The 18-tap beer selection showcases brews from the East Coast, Germany, Belgium, and Japan. A casual food menu is in the works. [Hoodline]



February 6

San Francisco’s Korean scene is steadily growing, with this week bringing a whopping three new spots to the city. Get especially excited about Sunday Bird, the Korean fried chicken joint hidden behind Boba Guys.

FILLMORE — Tucked in the back of the new Boba Guys at 1522 Fillmore St. is Sunday Bird, a Korean fried chicken joint from acclaimed NYC chef Deuki Hong. OAKLAND — Counter service-style Curry Up Now has opened at to 1745 San Pablo Ave. with its signature Indian street food. In addition to crowd-pleasing items such as its “naughty naan” and “sexy fries,” the Oakland location will debut several new additions such as kababpav (chicken or lamb kofta meatballs on a Amul buttered bun) and Indian railway cutlet (crumb-fried maggi masala noodle and veggies with Sriracha aioli).
