Hamilton Family Emergency Center

Hamilton Family Emergency Center – the only 24-hour family emergency shelter in San Francisco – provides newly homeless families access to overnight or 60-day shelter beds, a full continuum of safety net support services, three nutritious meals a day, crisis intervention counseling, and on-site medical services. HFEC offers newly homeless families access to emergency overnight shelter. Hamilton Family Emergency Center requires you must have children or be seven months pregnant to be eligible. 14 Emergency Beds and 26 60-Day beds are available. Families calling in at the call-in time will be informed whether or not they are offered a bed based on availability. HFEC provides a warm bed, three meals a day, and on-site medical services. Case management, direct access to Employment and First Avenues Housing Specialists, and activities for children through the Children’s Program is also available.

THP offers 20 families temporary housing in private apartments and comprehensive support services for up to 18 months. THP provides time to identify and address the causes of their homelessness. Families improve budgeting, parenting, and other life skills while preparing for economic and housing stability.

Hamilton Family Transitional Housing Program – in collaboration with the San Francisco Dependency Drug Court, Behavioral Health Court, and the Child Welfare Program – offers 20 high-needs families interim housing with comprehensive support services for up to 18 months. The Transitional Housing Program provides families the time they need to identify and begin to address the multiple barriers and factors that contribute to their chronic homelessness, and helps families improve budgeting, parenting, and other life skills while preparing for economic and housing stability.
