Welcome to my tour stop on the Love of Legends series!  This sounded like such a fun theme that I had to get involved!  Several legends were pitched like unicorns, leprechauns, etc. and when Godzilla was mentioned I knew that Christian would want a shirt honoring this legendary monster!  And then the Yeti Cutie was inspired by the fact that you can’t Google or Youtube search a video for Godzilla without seeing some sort of Godzilla VS. (monster).  So, I knew I needed to come up with a Legend for Eva Mae!  We just got back from Disney where I rode the Expedition Everest ride – a ride that honors the myth and legend of the Yeti!  I knew that making a Kawaii Yeti would be perfect for Eva Mae!  You can see more cute Yeti dress up graphics here

Did anyone else play the vintage Godzilla arcade game when they were young?  That was my inspiration for finding a graphic and design to base my shirt!  Once I designed the layout for the print, I bought two vintage shirts at Goodwill (1 gray and 1 green) and created Christian’s shirt using the Peek a Boo Pattern Shop Grand Slam Tee (#afflink)

Then, I printed the image from my Silhouette Studio program onto transfer paper (Avery 8938– #afflink) and simply ironed on the shirt!  The image above is after 1 washing and you can see the outline of the transfer paper on the fabric.  I DON’T suggest using printable heat transfer vinyl because the printable vinyl does not last through washings.  And transfer paper doesn’t peel so you can’t feed it into your Silhouette to trim.  *sad face*  The best thing I’ve found so far is to print on the light transfer paper and iron on white fabric.  I haven’t experimented with transfer paper for dark fabrics yet.  I’m not sure if gray fabric is dark enough to try dark transfer paper – if you do, let me know!  I’m still experimenting in the whole printing/transfer/vinyl process.  The reason I started was because I had shirts to make for Disney that would be a pain to try to layer heat transfer vinyl.  This image isn’t too bad if you wanted to try layering vinyl colors.

Eva Mae’s shirt is a modified Cupcake Top that you can get in my Craftsy store for $1.00!  I shortened the sleeves and added a skirt to the bodice to make this cute little play dress!  The image is cut from pink heat transfer vinyl.  I use only Siser Easyweed vinyl for my heat transfer vinyl.  I’ve tried several brands and Siser and Expressions are the only two I will use after many failed attempts at using the Silhouette brand or any brands bought at JoAnns or Michaels.  It’s a shame the big box stores around here don’t carry Siser.  You can order on Amazon (#afflink) or several other online vendors!

So…… on to the battle!

The Yeti Cutie and Godzilla approach……….

It’s a close call with the Yeti Cutie nearly missing the claws of the dangerous Godzilla……..

The battle seems to be evenly matched with the cuteness power of the Yeti Cutie and the spikey hair power of the Godzilla…..

……. but it’s actually love that wins this battle!  As the fierce Godzilla reaches in to hug the Yeti cutie, the producer mommy calls “cut” and awards both fighters with a Tootsie Pop for a job well done!

My kids had a blast “battling” for the photoshoot and I hope you enjoyed reading!!!  If you’d like to download the cut file for the Yeti and Godzilla, CLICK HERE!  It is a .studio3 file so you will need to have the Silhouette Software to open!
