I’m so excited to share all the details with you in this blog post!  Our PacMan Party was a hit and my little buddy had the time of his life!

First, a little background in the theme department……. since Christian is older now he has been having a lot of fun thinking and picking the theme for his parties!  Last year he wanted a Lego Batman party (Click here to see all the fun goodies!) and after the party last year he started thinking of what his 6th birthday theme might be.  For most of this year I was thinking he wanted a “Brain Birthday” – including a cake that looked like a brain!!! (Boys.  SMH.)  BUT a few months ago he decided he wanted a PacMan birthday after having fun at Mimi’s apartment game room and the old school video game machine!

He tried to change his mind again to an Avenger’s Party but I was able to talk him out of it and keep the PacMan theme since I had already started on the planning! LOL!  I’m not going to talk too much about his outfit in this post since you can read about it HERE and also get the free machine embroidery file for PacMan and the Ghosts!

I will start by talking about the food!  PacMan is the perfect theme for a food menu!  Just think of what all PacMan has to eat (besides the ghosts and power pellets!)  Cherries, strawberries, bananas, pretzels…..PERFECT for a kids party!

So, I made up a fun poster to put on the food table!  You can download it here to use for your snacks if you are having a PacMan or 80’s theme party!  I love the pixel food!

I also had a super fun time making the cake and cupcakes for the party!  If you’ve followed any of my party posts you know that I am NOT a baker!  (Come see the funny Lego Cake fail here!)

So, this year I had the bright idea to buy just plain cupcakes and sheet cake and decorate it myself using sugar sheets and my Cameo!

I have to say, the weeding on this job is the most fun I’ve ever had.  Simply weed and insert the sugar paper into your mouth! LOL!  The brand I used was Wilton and you can buy it on Amazon here! (#afflink)

The snack and cake table also featured a foam board that I made for my buddy!

You can see that each of the characters has a picture of Christian.  When he was born, his 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and now 6th birthday pictures!

This board was a lot of fun to put together with my Cameo but it is also the project that brought a lot of tears to my eyes.  Seeing a snapshot of what seems like just yesterday (his birth) and then all of the birthdays that have since happened makes me so sad for how fast time goes when you are raising kids.  I am so thankful to be his mommy!

See my cute shirt I’m wearing?  Another shout out to the Silhouette Cameo!  I did this the day before the party with some Heat Transfer Vinyl from Expressions Vinyl and they turned out so cute!  Remember, Christian’s outfit is extra special and you can read about it in a separate post here!

Ok, I’ve talked about food and clothes…..now let’s talk about the party!  I planned for it to be an hour and we were right on track!  Here’s how it went:

PacMan Paper Maze

Vinyl Sticker Cup Decorating

PacMan Field Game

PacMan Video Game and Snack Time

Presents

Cake

It was the perfect length of party! Standing around the table doing the maze and cup decorating allowed friends to trickle in and jump into the activities as they arrived!  Some of the littles needed help removing the stickers but they had a lot of fun personalizing them the way they wanted!  AND I HAVE FREEBIES!!!  I created the maze on my own with Inkscape and saved it so you can print out for your party!  And if you have a Sillhouette you can use my design to make your own PacMan and Ghost cut outs for stickers or other decorations!  Click the links below to download the files

On to my favorite part of the day….. the PacMan Field Game!  I was inspired by a Pinterest image of indoor PacMan but that wouldn’t work for little 3-8 year olds at our party!  So, I came up with my own little version and I think it works so well!  (please excuse the obvious photoshopped image below….I was going for a pinnable image!)

What you’ll need is just a can of blue spray paint and a bunch of golf balls!!!  I was fortunate to have a friend donate more than 100 golf balls to me for his party!  They live near a golf course and her husband kept a bin of all the stray balls he would find!

After you paint your PacMan maze in the grass, throw a bunch of golf balls down and give 2 kids each a bucket.  The rules are to collect as many “Pac Pellets” as you can in 30 seconds and put them in your bucket before the “Ghosts” come out and tag you!  Then it’s game over!  I gave them a count off “on your mark, get set, go!” and counted to 30 and when I did, whoever was in the “ghost box” ran out and tagged the kids with buckets!

After being tagged, I counted each bucket and the “PacMan” with the most “Pac Pellets” was the winner of that round!

I love this picture below with 4 ghosts in the ghost box!  These kids were all buddies in preschool and at church and they’re growing up so fast!

It was super hot outside so after about 5-6 rounds of the game with different kids being a PacMan or a ghost, we came inside and started munching on snacks and playing the Plug and Play version of PacMan on the TV!  After presents, cake, and some playing with toys, kids started to leave and as their “Game Over” gift I sent them home with some gummy snacks!  Their vinyl sticker cups were also part of their favors to take home!  I made the gummy snack favor a printable file as well!

Well, this has been a super long post with a lot of party information but I hope you’ve enjoyed reading all the way to the end!  And if you plan on a PacMan party I hope some of the downloads help make your party fun and easy!!!  I can’t wait to see what we’ll do next year………

………..and what baby girl will want for her 4th birthday in December! (Hopefully she’ll be happier in those pictures!)
