I have almost survived the busiest month of the year for our family!  December is filled with parties around here because Eva Mae and I have birthdays at the beginning of the month, as a music teacher I have holiday programs for my piano students and preschool, and then there is my favorite holiday…Christmas!!!

I wanted to post and recap the fun events we had and then I will save a “Best of 2014″ post for next week!  First off….. BIRTHDAYS!

Eva Mae turned three and as much as I wanted to do a theme that was cute and generic (like ballerinas, tea party, etc.) we did a Minnie Mouse party because, well, that is soooooo my daughter!  Anyone who knows her will recognize her by the Minnie Mouse figurine in her hand.  It will either be a plush Minnie, a Bowtique Minnie, or a little action figure size Minnie!  In fact, I decided the party decor should be all her Minnie Mouse toys around the cake table!  It was adorable!

(see, she is even holding a little Pluto for the quick pictures we took before the party!)

Since I am a sewing mama, we had to have a cute birthday dress!  I knew I wanted to do an applique on a bodice and I love the way the Caroline Dress by MHC looks and fits!  It was perfect!

Our party wasn’t huge – just family and our neighbor!  We did some Minnie Mouse watercolor painting and then opened presents and had dinner/birthday cake!

We had the best time and Eva Mae is now stocked up on her second favorite thing…..Play doh!

This year was the first program for Christian and Eva Mae to participate together in at school!  (Poor Eva Mae was done in this picture!)

I put together the costumes for each class with the help of Pinterest and my fellow teachers!  The musical we preformed is adapted from Cathy’s Music “Someone Has a Birthday” and dressed each class up in a special costume for each song:

2 year olds – farm animals with Oriental Trading hats and colored t-shirts

3 year olds – angels with coffee filter wings (Tutorial Here)

4 year olds – stars (star headbands with glitter puffy paint shirts)

Pre-k – shepherds (fleece head pieces and paper bag vests with fabric belt)

It was adorable!  I had the best time leading the kids in the musical and I will miss it next year – we will begin the adventure of homeschooling and I can’t wait!

And finally, we have my favorite Christmas tradition, the Christmas PJs!!!  I had a pre-order back in July and I will be doing another pre-order this summer so be on the lookout if you want me to put together your Christmas PJs for 2015!

We had Christmas with Nick’s brother last week, with my brother’s family on Monday, a fun adult Christmas party on Tuesday, our own family Christmas on Wednesday, and then to Nick’s parents on Thursday!  It was a whirlwind but I wouldn’t trade it!  I love celebrating the birth of Jesus!!!  I wrote in our Christmas Memory Album that my new favorite tradition is going to be something we did during our Jesse Tree Devotions.  Before starting the festivities on Christmas morning, we will read the Christmas story from our devotions and then clip 2 branches from the Christmas tree and tie them together in the shape of a cross to remember the reason we celebrate the birth of baby Jesus!  Being a parent and instilling the TRUTH into the lives of our children is such an important job!  I pray that I will continue to hear from the Lord on how I can be a better mommy!

On that note, I will leave you with a couple of collages that brought me to tears.  How could they get this big so fast?!  Time flies when you’re having fun!

I hope you had a blessed Christmas and Holiday season!  See you soon for a recap of 2014 and ideas for the new year!
