People called hackers Olympics ‘DEFCON CTF 24‘ participated in one of the world’s most prestigious Hacking contests where they came in third. The main members of DEFKOR belong to BoB. BoB is a hacking training program started by the Korea Information Technology Research Institute (KITRI).
Ahead of the DEFCON finals, an AI hacking competition was also held. The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) held the Cyber Grand Challenge with DEFCON. Total of seven teams was participating in the CGC, the winner of the ‘Mayhem’ had a chance to participate in the finals.
In recent years, it was shown that there was a continued rival confrontation between the DEFKOR and the PPP.
On the first day, the DEFKOR was expected to claim the top spot but they were bested by PPP. The B1o0P team in China recorded second place. Unfortunately, three members of them was not able to attend there because they had to to go military service and so on. DEFCON had rules regarding the changing of personal on teams. So they request to the Korean military service about that, but it was not accepted.

The third place for the DEFKOR of Korea at DEFCON will still be seen as a valuable achievement and at the same time it showed the result of the special care and appropriate support of Korea.
