Recently, a small business owner contacted us, interested in learning more about SEO and what tools he should be using. After sharing with him some of the tools we use, I figured i’d share it on our blog as well. While this isn’t an “end-all-be-all” list, if you’re interested in getting the ball rolling – this is a great starting point for the link building process.

1. Google Analytics – this is great for traffic analysis, etc, it’s a must.

2. Link-Assistant by SEO Powersuite – When it comes to link building, you have to do outreach. That means getting in the face of website owners, pitching your product, service, or content. Anything that can expedite this labor intensive process is a god-send! Link Assistant is used by us to regularly determine good candidates for outreach, and provides all the necessary information once the candidate websites are determined.

3. MajesticSEO / OpenSiteExplorer – These are great tools in general for link building analysis.

There are a lot of other tools, but if you’re looking to start your SEO campaign, these tools will serve you well for a long time.
