22 Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Ideas For Every Interest

I, personally, hate the majority of the commercialised events throughout the year. Mother’s day, Valentine’s day, and recently even singles day?! The list is continually growing. But why do I hate them? Because of the ridiculous things we’re meant to buy for each other.

No, your mum does not want a poem about how great mother’s are on a keyring. And no, she doesn’t want a petrol shop card and a last minute bouquet of flowers from that shady looking guy on the roadside you bought her last year. You can still get her a last minute gift she’ll actually like you know.

This year, think of Mother’s day like I do; an excuse to show her exactly how much she means to you, with something you know she’ll actually love. The things I’ve found below are a start, but obviously I don’t know your mum half as well as you do, so make sure you get her something unique to her. And if she likes getting things other mum’s won’t be, then maybe you should consider some of the more unusual Mother’s Day gift ideas too?

The Best Mother’s Day Cards 2015

Read what I said about those tacky petrol station cards? Throw them out of your mind and cast your peepers over these beauties your mum will be proud to show off on the mantel piece. And they’re no pricier than your average card-shop Mother’s day 2015 card.

My pick for the best you can get is the Tea-rrific Mother’s Day card from Not On The Highstreet (£3.50), which is perfect for any tea-crazed mum. The very close runners up are below; a Mother’s Day card for if your mum is just as close to you as your friends (£2.50), and a Mother’s Day card that’s a cheeky dig at your brother or sister (£3.25), both from Not On The Highstreet,

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Ideas For Music Lovers

If she’s really into her music then she probably already has a dedicated set of speakers, and a device to play the music from whether that’s her phone or a vinyl player.

And you know what? She probably picked them with precision, so don’t bother getting her something you think’s better. Instead, go for something which looks good and can work nicely alongside whatever else she has.

My pick would be a Roberts Revival Mini DAB/FM Digital Radio in Duck Egg blue from John Lewis (£129.99). You can get it in other colours too like cream and red, and it wouldn’t look out of place as a standalone feature on a table with it’s classic design.

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Ideas For Jewellery Lovers

Jewellery is such a difficult thing to get right, and you’ll start to notice the stereotypical ‘Mummy’ jewellery poking it’s ugly head up now that we’re nearing March. What’s that? You know the type, hearts or stars with ‘Mum’ or similar scribbles on them.

Your mum’s not going to wear that, ever. It’ll stay locked away in her jewellery box and every time she unfortunately happens across it she’ll wonder what she ever did to make you hate her so much.

If you’re going to get her jewellery, get her something she’ll actually wear. The Olivia Burton Big Dial Chrono Detail Mink And Rose Gold Watch (£125) above is my favourite pick, or if you’re looking for something a little more personal there’s the Gold Envelope Necklace (£68) which you can personalise with a sentence of text. If you were looking for a sentimental Mother’s Day 2015 gift, this is it. It’s the kind of touching jewellery she’ll be happy to wear, and will keep her thinking about you each time she puts it on.

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift For Mums Who Love To Read

If your mum’s well into her reading, but hasn’t upgraded to the 21st Century just yet, then a Kindle is the obvious Mother’s Day gift idea for her. You could go for the original Kindle (£59 for special offers, £69 for no special offers shown), like the one shown above, but I’d recommend stretching your budget a little bit to the Paperwhite if you can afford it. You can find out which Kindle would be the best to buy for her here.

And I know that not everyone who loves reading wears glasses, but this gift had nowhere else in the list to go and it was too gorgeous to miss out! The Cath Kidston Kingswood Rose Glasses Case is just £14, has some incredible reviews, and is tough enough to keep your mums glasses safe wherever she goes.

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Ideas For Mums Who Love To Write

If your mum is constantly scribbling away in an organiser or notebook, she probably loves getting new stationary. Pens are dull though, and she’ll already have her favourite, so get her something new to write in. Notebooks also make great budget Mother’s Day gifts because you can get really good quality ones for not too much money.

The three above would all make lovely presents, but the Escape The Ordinary journal from Kate Spade at Selfridges is my absolute favourite (£26.95). The Radley Trio of Notebooks from House Of Fraser (£20) will fit perfectly into her handbag, and because they’re all hardback she won’t have to worry about them getting banged about or ruined when she travels. The Butterflies Personal Organiser from Paperchase is the best of the bunch if she likes organisers rather than plain or lined journals, and at just £16 it’s a real steal considering how gorgeous it looks!

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Ideas For Mums Who Love To Relax

Before you get frustrated with the price of these, I know they’re more expensive than your average candle or pair of slippers. These are the best of the best for a Mother’s Day 2015 gift, so if they stretch a bit out of your budget then just take them as ideas and get your mum any candles or slippers you think she’d like for a lower price.

If you can afford them though, the 3 Mini Candle Set from Diptyque is a luxurious take on the usual candles your mum will have dotted around her house, and the packaging makes them a perfect gift (£60). I picked the UGG slippers because I’ve owned a pair myself for the last 3 years, and they’re still going strong! So if you think £60 is a ridiculous price to pay for a pair of slippers, know that you’re paying for quality with UGG; they’re warm, comfortable, and with a hard sole she could even step outside with them if she needed to.

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Idea For Mums Who Love To Cook

If your mum is constantly cooking and fancies herself the next Masterchef or champion of The Great British Bakeoff, get her something cooking related.

She’s likely already got all of the utensils and accessories she needs and loves, so unless she’s been hinting about getting a new knife block or cooking pot, I’d steer clear. What you could get her is anything she could need a nice looking multiple of.

In this case, I’ve picked out an antique looking floral apron from Marks & Spencer for £19.50. They have a lovely selection of aprons at the moment, so if this one isn’t your mums style it’s worth having a look at the others. And if she already has a favourite apron, think about getting her a tea towel or oven gloves.

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Ideas For Beauty Loving Mums

If you’re not entirely sure what exactly your mums into, but you know she’s always pampering herself with baths, or loves doing her makeup, then focus on these two things. Even if you have absolutely no clue about bath bombs and face palettes, these are two definite winners.

The Lush Blooming Marvellous! gift box comes with 6 of their most popular Mother’s Day gifts, including a Blackberry bath bomb and a Honey I Shrunk the Kids soap bar for £29.95. Makeup’s tricky because you probably don’t know what her favourite brands are, and you might not even know what kind of makeup she uses like eyeliner or mascara. The Clarins essentials eye makeup palette has neutral toned eyeshadows so you don’t have to worry about any of it not suiting her (£35).

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Ideas For Mums Who Love Gardening

If you don’t have the first clue about gardening, but you know your mum is well into all her greenery, this would make a lovely gift. It’s the Heathcote & Ivory Gardeners Tea-Break Hand Essentials Gift Set from John Lewis, and for just £12 you get:

Hand Cream, 50ml

Exfoliating Hand Wash, 50ml

Nail Brush, x 1

Dishwasher & Microwave Safe Ceramic Mug

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Traditional Gift Ideas

So, you’ve looked through all of these ideas and still none of them suit your mum. If you really think she’s got everything she needs, then opt for one of the more traditional gifts; chocolate, alcohol, flowers, or a spa day. The ‘For My Mum’ Sleekster Chocolate gift Box from Hotel Chocolat doesn’t just have a great selection of their chocolates for £22, it also comes in a special Mother’s Day box. If wine is more your mum’s thing, then go for the Personalised Sparkling Rose Set from John Lewis for £25.

Flowers are a safe option, as long as you get a bouquet like the Thank You Mum from Bunches (£19.99 – and comes with a free box of chocolate!). None of those ridiculous road-side deals; she’s come to expect them, and frankly, she deserves better than that this Mother’s Day. If you want to give her something she’ll really remember though, go for something like the Luxury Spa Day from Virgin Experience Days (£55). She’ll appreciate some time with you, or time to relax by herself if you get it just for her.

Best Mother’s Day 2015 Gift Idea For Mums-To-Be

Hey, there are going to be plenty of soon-to-be mums out there on Mother’s Day 2015, and if you’ve got one in your life then this is a lovely little gift you can prepare with her family and friends for the day.

12 Cards come in the Mummy-To-Be Notes pack from Not On The Highstreet for £9.95. Give some out to her friends and family and get them to write their advice on the back of each one. Then get them together, wrap them up, and give them to her on Mother’s Day. She’ll love the thought and support that’s gone into each one.

Hopefully you found some things your mum would like in this guide, or if not it at least got you thinking about what you’re going to get her! If you were wondering when Mother’s Day 2015 is in the UK, it’s Sunday March 15th. Which means you’ve got just over 3 weeks to plan your gift for her.

Whatever you choose, make sure you use Scoperks to get the best price and deal, and to get a bit of cashback on selected purchases!
