Juniper Communities Announces Executive Promotion

Juniper Communities, a national owner and operator of 20 senior living communities, announced the promotion of Cindy Longfellow to vice president of business development and sales and marketing.

Longfellow started with Juniper in 2003 at a Wellspring Memory Care community in Louisville, Colorado, serving as a member of the community-based teams at both Louisville and Denver’s The Spearly Center through 2008. She then joined the home team office as a regional director of sales and marketing. She later became national director of sales and marketing, and in 2014, started to focus on new business projects and relationships.

“Cindy is an extremely talented and dedicated individual who has been a member of the Juniper family for more than a decade,” Juniper CEO and Founder Lynne Katzmann said in a news release. “It is a great privilege to recognize not only her tenure, but her contribution with this well-deserved promotion to a corporate officer.”

Wingate Healthcare Reveals New Hires, Promotions

Wingate Healthcare, a senior living provider with operations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York, recently announced the appointments of various positions, including a new COO and CFO.

The company appointed Tamely Levin as COO. She has been with Wingate for four years as CFO, and has more than 30 years of legal, financial and professional experience, 25 of which have been working in the senior housing and health care industry. Before joining Wingate, she was founder and principal of TM Levin Law, LLC and Financial Consulting, a legal and financial consulting firm.She’s also had various senior financial leadership roles at assisted living and nursing home companies.

“I have worked closely with Tamely for many years and in many roles,” Wingate President Scott Schuster said in a news release. “Her experience at Wingate, her in-depth knowledge about our company and her belief in our mission and in our culture position her extremely well to advance our company’s operating objectives.”

Lisa Burgess joins Wingate as CFO, and will be responsible for strategic development opportunities, financing initiatives and oversight of the company’s financial and accounting departments. She brings 18 years of experience working in the senior housing and health care industry, most recently serving as senior vice president of finance for Post Acute Partners, a New York-based owner and operator of multiple post-acute health care businesses.

“We’re really excited to welcome Lisa to our leadership team here at Wingate,” Schuster said. “She has a deep understanding of our core business and related ancillary companies. She has proven herself as a determined and committed health care and financial professional who has the skills to help lead us into an evolving health care environment.”

Additionally, Wingate promoted Bryan Rossano to vice president of operations for the New York and West regions. For the past three years, Rossano has served as regional director of operations for the same regions, overseeing the operations of nine skilled nursing facilities. He will work to maintain high quality standards and performance in these regions in his new role.

“Bryan has been an integral part of Wingate’s operations,” Schuster said. “He is an effective, committed leader who is highly regarded by his colleagues, and I look forward to him taking on an expanded role among our senior leadership team at Wingate.”

Wingate also announced the hire of Joel Stevens as regional director of operations for Wingate at Sudbury, Wingate at Worcester, Wingate at Silver Lake and the Wingate Residences at Silver Lake. He will also serve as the administrator for Wingate at Sudbury. Stevens has 19 years of operational experience in the senior housing and health care industry, most recently holding regional director roles with Hybris Health Services and EPOCH Senior Living. Before that, he spent 10 years with Wingate.

Wingate is a growing company in an evolving industry, and Joel’s commitment to regulatory compliance and quality improvements will allow us to continue providing the highest level of care for our residents.”

Senior Care Centers Names New President, COO

The board of directors for Senior Care Centers announced the promotion of Andrew Kerr to president and CFO, and Mike Brandley will assume the role of COO.

Kerr previously served as CFO and joined Senior Care Centers in 2011. Before joining Senior Care Centers, he worked as senior vice president and CFO of Intrepid USA Healthcare Services, a national provider of home health services with 90 locations in 22 states.

Brandley most recently served as COO for Senior Care Centers’ Solutions 2 Wellness company, which includes Senior Rehab Solutions, MBS Rx, Nicoya Lifestyle and Wellness and Aime Hospice Care. He’s been with Senior Care Centers since 2009. He began his career as a physical therapist and is also a licensed Texas nursing facility administrator.

“Andrew and Mike bring collaboration, creativity, a desire to grow talent and a proven ability to strengthen strategic position while improving operating efficiencies,” John Heller, a member of Senior Care Centers’ board of directors, said in a news release. “Our industry is changing rapidly, and in order to thrive, we plan to use our scale and depth of expertise to lead the industry in an array of care services. We believe Andrew and Mike are the right pair to achieve this vision.”

Senior Care Centers is a Dallas-based nursing home operator, providing care to more than 10,000 residents and employing more than 12,000 people.

Avamere Hires VP of Growth and Development

The Avamere Family of Companies, a post-acute and senior living provider, appointed Ryan Haller as the company’s vice president of growth and development.

Haller began his career with Deutche Bahn, the largest transportation provider in Europe. Since then, he has led real estate development for a prominent regional health care organization and most recently served as the director of project management for acquisitions for an independent living organization.

In his new role, Haller will be responsible for leveraging the organization’s position as a health care and senior lifestyle provider in the Pacific Northwest by expanding beyond the company’s traditional geographic footprint and business lines to spur growth. He will also work to augment Avamere’s market position to create economies of scale for each line of service, while contributing to a more streamlined business and care model for its residents, patients and employees.

“We are very excited for Ryan to join our team to carry out our long-term strategic vision to continue the expansion of our services,” CEO John W. Morgan said in a news release. “Ryan brings a wealth of acquisitions management knowledge and deep understanding of intelligent growth planning and execution. …Ryan is the right person to oversee that our continued development complements our mission to enhance the life of every person we serve.”

Avamere is a group of independent health care providers, with 40 independent living, assisted living, transitional care and skilled nursing facilities in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Colorado and five ancillary companies.

Watercrest Senior Living Appoints Memory Care Director

Watercrest Senior Living Group appointed Mariola Rodriguez as memory care director of Market Street Memory Care Residences in Viera, Florida.

Rodriguez previously served as memory care director of Watercrest of Lake Nona, an assisted living and memory care community. She has nearly a decade of experience in senior living.

“Mariola is uniquely equipped to enhance the lives of our residents and elevate Market Street Memory Care Residences as the leader in exceptional care and service for seniors living with Alzheimer’s and dementia,” Mark Vorkapich, Principal and CEO of Watercrest, said in a news release.

Market Street Memory Care Residences is a 60-unit, 44,000-square-foot memory care community that was designed, owned and operated by Watercrest. The community opens to residents in the fall.

Prudential Mortgage Capital Company Expands Midwest Team

Prudential Mortgage Capital Company (PMCC) has expanded its multifamily and health care originations team in the Midwest with a new St. Louis office and the hires of Robyn Cunningham and Adrian Hartsman as principals with the origination team. PMCC is the commercial mortgage lending business of PGIM, the global investment management businesses of Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU).

Cunninghamd joins PMCC from Love Funding Corp., where she served as a senior director responsible for loan origination. She had been with the firm for more than 35 years in various positions.

Hartman also comes to PMCC from Love Funding, where he was a director responsible for originating multifamily and health care loans. He was with the firm for more than 10 years in many different roles.

Cunningham and Hartman are responsible for originating multifamily and health care loans across platforms, including for senior housing. The St. Louis office is opening in an effort to expand the company’s lending capabilities in response to client demand in the region and nationally.

“With increasing demand for multifamily loans in the U.S., we are delighted to continue our expansion in Missouri under the leadership of Robyn and Adrian,” Patrick Kempton, a principal with the firm’s originations team, said in a news release. “PMCC has a long-established presence in the Midwest, and with Robyn and Adrian’s relationships and experience, we look forward to providing even greater service to our clients.”

CJMW Architecture Welcomes Award-Winning Senior Living Design Architect

CJMW Architecture hired award-winning architect Drew Kepley, AIA, LEED AP, to the team. He will lead the firm’s Roanoke, Virginia, office and play an integral role in the firm’s strategic expansion of its senior living practice and other key markets.

Kepley has more than 20 years in senior living project experience for clients around the country. His work has been recognized by the Center for Health Design in the Architectural Showcase issue of Healthcare Design Magazine and the AIA in the Design for Aging Review, among others.

Kepley joins CJMW from SFCS Architects, where he served as a senior vice president specializing in the design of senior living communities.

“Drew has built a reputation for creating innovative environments driven by client and, ultimately, resident needs,” Alan Moore, CJMW principal and leader of the firm’s senior living practice, said in a news release. “His focus on client service and developing designs that promote a high quality of life integrates perfectly with CJMW’s own culture and focus.”

Love & Company Adds New Interactive Communications Director

Love & Company, a marketing firm specializing in senior housing, welcomed Clara Daly as its new interactive communications director. Daly’s appointment comes as Love & Company continues to grow its integrated media services department.

“Clara has a rare mix of design and programming skills,” Love & Company Principal and Executive Vice President Tom Mann said in a news release. “Her uniquely diverse digital background makes her the perfect person to steer our web efforts.”

Parkway Place Appoints Chaplain

Parkway Place, a faith-based, Buckner Retirement Services senior living community located in Houston, Texas, appointed John Bender as chaplain of the community.

In his role, Bender regularly visits the residents for religious-based activities, as several residents used to work as ministers, missionaries, or in other faith-based positions. He also coordinates with churches in the area to provide a rosary and communion service each week and mass one time a month.

Bender previously served seniors while working as an education minister and administrator for a church in Center, Texas. This is his first chaplain position.

“[Seniors] have a lot to give, even if they don’t realize it,” Bender said in a news release. “I’m here at Parkway Place to go through life alongside them as a friend. My goal is to help and serve them as people. I want them to continue to feel valuable and purposeful in all they do and work with them to see how God reveals that to them.”

EPOCH Senior Living Names Executive Director at Nashua, New Hampshire Community

EPOCH Senior Living named Amanda Wilson as executive director of Bridges by EPOCH at Nashua, a memory care and assisted living community opening this month in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Wilson comes to Bridges by EPOCH with almost four decades of experience in senior care, serving previously as director of admissions and then joint community relations director and program director at EPOCH Memory Care Assisted Living of Weston (now Wingate Residences at Weston).
