New Silverado Community Granted Approval in Wash.
Irvine, Calif.-based operator Silverado this week announced that it has received unanimous approval from the Cordata Design Review Board to build an 80-unit memory care community in Bellingham, Wash.
Set to break ground as early as this summer, the new complex will be located on a four-acre site at 4400 block of Cordata Parkway in Bellingham.
The 41,000-square-foot community is designed specifically to care for up to 80 residents with memory-impairing conditions. The property will also feature expansive outdoor space for the residents, as well as office space for the Alzheimer’s Society of Washington.
Development of the vacant property will result in the creation of dozens of construction jobs, as many as 80 new health care jobs and additional city tax revenues, Silverado said in a release.
Grand Living, Ryan Companies Plan New Project or Sioux Falls, S.D.
Grand Living has announced plans to develop a new senior living community on the south shore of Lake Lorraine in Sioux Falls, S.D. in partnership with Ryan Companies, a national builder, developer, designer and real estate manager based in Minneapolis.
Grand Living at Lake Lorraine will provide independent, assisted living and memory care services with residences ranging from studios to two-bedroom den apartment homes.
The community will also offer a variety of dining options for residents, including formal, casual and private dining, a bistro and a club room. Other amenities include a wellness center, spa and full-service salon, an indoor pool, exercise studio and offices for rotating medical providers.
A performance theater providing theatrical, musical and lifelong learning programs, a library, woodworking and a craft shop, a chapel, meditation center, pet grooming center and instrumental practice rooms will also be available to all residents as well as their families.
Construction on Grand Living at Lake Lorraine is set to take place this fall.

West Cobb Senior Living Breaks Ground on $51 Million Sterling Estates Project
West Cobb Senior Living is underway on its newest senior living community in Marietta, Ga., Sterling Estates of West Cobb.
The $51 million senior living community is located on 25 acres and will have up to 62 cottages and garden homes, along with 42 independent living apartments and an assisted living building with 90 units of various sizes.
As for amenities, Sterling Estates of West Cobb will offer various dining venues, a 6,500-square-foot Wellness Center and a heated, aerobic saltwater pool for therapeutic purposes.
A multi-functional clubhouse will also be built in the neighborhood, along with walking trails and fitness stations throughout.
Having broken ground in May, West Cobb Senior Living expects Sterling Estates of West Cobb to open in the summer of 2016.
The community, located at 3165 Dallas Highway in Marietta, is the second Sterling Estates to be built in Cobb County. The other, Sterling Estates of East Cobb, is located at 4220 Lower Roswell Rd. in Marietta.
Leo Brown Group, Continental Real Estate Companies Break Ground on Ky. Community
Carmel, Ind.-based Leo Brown Group and Columbus, Ohio-based Continental Real Estate Companies announced this week they have began construction on a new senior living community in Lexington, Ky.
Dubbed Highgrove at Tates Creek, this new community will represent an over $16 million investment from the partnership between the two companies.
Construction plans call for 90 assisted living units, 30 of which will be part of a secured memory care component.
In addition to a convenient location near shopping, dining, physician officers and other health care services, residents and visitors can also enjoy a wooded setting while being minutes away from the activities and events offered by the University of Kentucky and Lexington’s famous horse country.
Extensive service offerings and amenities include 24-hour staffing, emergency response system, scheduled transportation, restaurant-style fine dining, casual dining, a theatre room, fitness center, beauty salon/barber, library, chapel, walking paths and outdoor gathering areas.
Leo Brown Group and Continental anticipate the community will be ready to open for its first residents in the spring of 2016.
Once complete, Leo Brown Group’s management company affiliate, Traditions Management, will run the day-to-day operations of Highgrove at Tates Creek.
The community is the second senior living property developed by Leo Brown Group and Continental. The companies have also partnered on the development of a 94-unit senior living community in Granville, Ohio, which will open later this summer.

Congress Companies Completes LCB Senior Living Project in Conn.
Peabody, Mass.-based Congress Building Corp. recently completed the construction of The Residence at Brookside, a three-story assisted, independent living and memory care community owned and operated by LCB Senior Living in Avon, Conn.
The Residence at Brookside was designed in a traditional New England style with Connecticut Brownstone elements by The Architectural Team of Chelsea, Mass.
The 64,300-square-foot community features 74 spacious apartments and common areas that include comfortable lounges, computer rooms, an exercise room, a courtyard, an outdoor patio for seasonal dining, on-site barber and beauty salon.
Residents can enjoy three restaurant-style served gourmet meals per day, a full activities program and a range of optional services.
Independent and assisted living apartments are available in a choice of floor plans and feature kitchenettes, private baths, central air conditioning and emergency call systems.
The Reflections Memory Care program at The Residence at Brookside engages residents with early stage Alzheimer’s disease and other memory impairments. Reflections offers specialized cognitive programming in a separate, secure environment with its own common areas, courtyard and other amenities.
Erickson Opens New Memory Care, Apartment Complex at Fox Run CCRC
Erickson Living this week announced several new developments at its Fox Run CCRC in Novi, Mich., recently celebrated its 12th anniversary.
Fox Run has expanded its memory care services available in Rose Court, the community’s continuing care neighborhood, which was repurposed as a designated memory care living space with 22 private rooms.
Some cosmetic changes also occurred as part of the redevelopment, including the creation of more welcoming resident rooms, way-finding clues and new memory care stations.
The new dedicated memory care wing will enable the community to better serve residents and their families, according to Fox Run officials. Prior to the renovation, Fox Run previously offered memory care services through the Erickson Virtual Memory Care product.
Also celebrated at Fox Run this past week was the opening of Edgewater, a new 94-apartment building on campus.
Named in honor of the classic Detroit amusement park, the already sold-out building features 16 apartment home floor plans, including a deluxe, two-bedroom, two-bath apartment home with a den and balcony or patio. An extra-large, two-bedroom, two-bath home with a patio can also be found at Edgewater, as well as a deluxe, two-bedroom, two-bath unit.
Today, Fox Run features a total of eight residence buildings on its campus. About 150 new residents will resident in Edgewater, and when the building is full, there will be nearly 1,200 active retirees living at the community.
Denver-based architecture firm Lantz-Boggio worked with Erickson on the Edgewater project.
Brandywine Senior Living at Upper Providence Hosts Grand Opening
Brandywine Senior Living recently held a grand opening event to celebrate the welcoming of residents to its newest community, Brandywine Senior Living at Upper Providence, in Phoenixville, Pa.
The 96-unit community located at 1133 Black Rock Road represents a collaboration with Main Line Health (MLH), a not-for-profit health system serving Philadelphia and its western suburbs.
Through this collaboration, MLH will offer Brandywine residents a variety of on-site services, including rehabilitation therapy provided by MLH physical and occupational therapists; lab services provided by MLH laboratories; primary care services provided by MLH physicians; along with health care coordination between the MLH clinical team and Brandywine’s licensed nursing team.
Fitness classes, health screenings, aquatic therapy classes and other wellness programs will also be provided as well.
