Presbyterian Senior Living Awarded Funds to Build Penn. Senior Apartments

Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) this week announced it has been notified that the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) has awarded funding to them to build a 50-unit apartment building for low- to moderate-income people age 62 and older.

Construction on the Westminster Place at Queen Street apartments is expected to begin later this fall with an anticipated completion by end of summer 2015, PSL stated in a release.

The community in Dillsburg, PA, will feature 40 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom apartments ranging in size from approximately 600- to 800-square-feet.

A community meeting room, exercise room, library and game room will also be included, with common areas mobility accessible and several apartments designed for people with mobility or vision/hearing impairments.

Bright Oaks Group, Ecumen to Develop 150-Unit Illinois Assisted Living Project

Bright Oaks Group, an Illinois and Florida senior living provider, will collaborate with Minnesota-based nonprofit provider Ecumen to develop a new 150-unit assisted living and memory care community in Wood Dale, Ill.

Bright Oaks of Wood Dale is slated to begin construction in 2014 with a grand opening anticipated for 2016, the companies stated in a release.

The community will offer its 150 units within a six-story building with the ground floor featuring retail space for companies and healthcare organizations that cater to older adults.

The proposed development will feature multiple neighborhoods for assisted living and memory care residents, which will function as communities within Bright Oaks of Wood Dale.

The community will also introduce a concept Bright Oaks has dubbed “The Bridge,” which enables couples living in The Bridge neighborhoods to remain living together, even when one needs memory-related care.

Bright Oaks of Wood Dale is one of 20 Bright Oaks-branded communities planned for the Chicagoland area and the Midwest.

Spectrum Retirement Communities Underway on 80-Unit Illinois Project

Construction is underway on Lombard Place Assisted Living & Memory Care, one of the latest developments from Denver-based Spectrum Retirement Communities that is located in Lombard, Illinois.

Set to open in summer of 2015, Lombard Place will offer 80 residences within its four-story, 78,500-square-foot structure.

Spectrum’s third community in Illinois, Lombard Place will also feature “top-flight amenities dining and Spectrum’s signature wellness program,” the company stated in a release.

Weis Builders is managing the project and Vessel Architecture & Design is the architect.

The LaSalle Group Breaks Ground on 10th Illinois Memory Care Project

Irving, Texas developer The LaSalle Group is gearing up for a groundbreaking this month on a new free-standing memory care community in Gurnee, Illinois.

Developed under the company’s flagship Autumn Leaves memory care and assisted living brand, the new $11.3 million 30,000-square-foot community will feature the Vigil System motion sensor program in each resident’s private room, among other amenities.

A full-service beauty and barber salon, on-site memory care nurses and chef-prepared meals with dietician services will also be included within the new development.

Autumn Leaves of Gurnee is the result of a partnership between The LaSalle Group, MedProperties and TCF National Bank.

The LaSalle Group expects the project will be complete by the second quarter of 2015.

The company is also in the midst of preparing for a grand opening of another free-standing Autumn Leaves memory care community in Illinois, which it plans to hold July 31.

The $11.1 million, roughly 29,000-square-feet project, Autumn Leaves of South Barrington, provides housing for nearly 50 resident.

Mainstreet Brings Newest Medical Resort to Dyer, Indiana.

Construction is now underway on Mainstreet’s latest Medical Resort development in Dyer, Indiana.

The result of a partnership between the Carmel, Indiana Mainstreet and Illinois-based Symphony Post Acute Care Network, the Claremont of Dyer boasts 130 beds within 82,108-square-feet.

The community will provide short-term rehabilitation and therapy in a hotel-like setting, Mainstreet stated in a release.

As a Medical Resort, the Claremont of Dyer will offer an amenity-rich environment, which will include a movie theater, game room, restaurants, walking trails, Wi-Fi, an on-site chef and more.

Mainstreet expects the project to be complete by summer 2015.

Adolfson & Peterson to Construct 120-Unit Master Planned Assisted Living Project in Florida

Adolfson & Peterson Construction this week received a permit to commence development on a new master-planned assisted living and memory care community in St. Augustine, Florida.

Developed by a joint venture of Montgomery Land Company and Zerga Development, the new facility will include a 33-acre parcel consisting of a 120-unit, multi-story assisted living and memory care facility with the capacity to serve 138 residents.

The project is scheduled for completion during the third quarter of 2015, Adolfson & Peterson stated in a release.

Summerset Assisted Living, Northstar Senior Living and PDC Capital Break Ground in California

Representatives from Summerset Assisted Living, Northstar Assisted Living and PDC Capital Bank will break ground next week on Northstar Lincoln, a new assisted living and memory care community in Lincoln, California.

Located on a three-acre parcel, the community will be comprised of two buildings totaling 145,000-square-feet, with one designated to assisted living and the other to memory care.

Approximately 114 assisted living and 72 memory care apartments in various floor plans will be offered, along with a commercial kitchen and dining facilities that will provide restaurant-style meals.

Amenities will include dining rooms, libraries, theaters, internet lounges, salons and barber shops, sundry stores, aerobics and physical therapy rooms, gaming and recreational areas.

Outdoor features of the community will include lounges, seating and gardening areas, along with various activity options, including wine and cheese tasting, movie nights, day trips to Thunder Valley Casino and shopping.

Northstar Lincoln is designed by Sacramento-based PGA Architect, Inc.

Saber Healthcare Group Opens First North Carolina Assisted Living Community

Ohio-based Saber Healthcare Group, a provider of assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, will hold a grand opening event next week to celebrate Steele Creek Crossings, the company’s first assisted living project in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The 90-bed facility is located a few miles from an array of medical complexes and services, including Carolinas Medical Center-Steele Creek, as well as nearby access to shopping, restaurants and other amenities throughout the Steele Creek community.

The 38,000-square-foot facility will feature its 90-beds in private and semi-private floor plans. The room will also contain flatscreen TVs, telephones, private baths, indoor and outdoor sitting areas.

Beau Provence Memory Care Nears September Opening in Louisiana

Beau Provence, a memory care and assisted living community, is opening in Mandeville, Louisiana, in September and is currently accepting priority reservations.

Developed by Schonberg & Associates, owner-operator of senior living communities in Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina, Beau Provence has 40 private and semi-private suites and is divided into two neighborhoods occupied by residents with shared abilities.

The Schonberg Neighborhood Design focuses on placing residents with similar abilities into the same neighborhood. Each area includes individual bedrooms and a community dining room, living room and other common spaces.
