Spectrum Affiliate Plans $16.6 Million Assisted Living Community in St. Louis
S-K Dougherty Ferry LLC, an affiliate of Denver-based Spectrum Retirement Communities, is planning to build a $16.6 million senior living community in St. Louis County, reports St. Louis Business Journal.
The four-story community will include 100 beds, 24 of which will be reserved for dementia care. Unit sizes will range from studios to one- and two-bedroom apartments.
On-site amenities will include a wellness center, beauty shop, meeting room, theater, library and game room.
Pending approval from the Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee in July, construction is scheduled to be complete by December 2015.
Mather LifeWays to Renovate, Expand Chicago-Area Community
Mather LifeWays, a not-for-profit organization, is looking to invest $6.5 million toward the renovation and expansion of the amenity offerings at its community Mather Place of Wilmette.
The $6.5 million renovation will get underway in late spring 2014, and includes an expanded fitness center and wellness suite, a cinema, updated creative arts studio and sundries shop, expanded multi-purpose spaces, library, and commuter center and enhanced salon and day spa.
The expansion will begin in early 2015, Mather LifeWays said in a release. Nine new apartment homes are planned under this portion of the construction, bringing the total number of apartments within the community to 174.
Amenities that will be added include an indoor swimming pool, a café, an all season gazebo and new landscaped courtyard, an additional walking path around the community, as well as a glass-enclosed space linking two corridors that the community intends will encourage exercise and group interaction and bring more natural light into community spaces.
Provident Resources Group to Build $20 Million Assisted Living Community in Louisiana
Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Provident Resources Group is planning to build a $20 million senior living community in Zachary, LA.
The community, Provident Village at Americana, will consist of approximately 100 units, with 76 assisted living and 24 memory care units.
Amenities and features of the community entail all day dining, Wi-Fi technology, a business center, home health care, transportation, daily and group activities to promote physical fitness, creativity and socialization, as well as a variety of other activities on site.
The community will be developed by Provident Development Group with WHLC Architects of Baton Rouge, and Steven J. Oubre/Architects Southwest of Lafayette, LA serving as project architects.
Provident Village at American is expected to begin construction in late 2014.

Milestone Retirement Communities Breaks Ground on $18 Million Arizona Assisted Living
Milestone Retirement Communities LLC is in the process of developing an $18 million assisted living community in Bullhead City, Arizona, reports Mohave Daily News.
The community, dubbed Joshua Springs Senior Living, will be a 95,300-square-foot facility with 74 assisted living units and 30 memory care beds.
Milestone, which is based in Vancouver, Washington, says the community will be more “upscale” and “hospitality driven.”
The development will be adjacent to a planned five-acre medical office complex anchored by five 7,500-square-foot medical office buildings.
Joshua Springs is just one of several projects underway in Bullhead City’s Fox Creek master-planned community.
It is expected to open in the fall of 2015.
Meanwhile, Milestone Retirement Communities is also planning to open a $20 million senior living community in Kingman, AZ. The Kingman development will be “nearly identical” to the one underway in Bullhead City, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The Douglas Company Begins Construction on $31.5 Million Project in Illinois
Toledo, Ohio-based general contractor The Douglas Company has commenced construction on The Solana at Deer Park, a senior living community located in Deer Park, Illinois.
The $31.5 million facility, owned by Formation Development Group LLC, is The Douglas Company’s seventh project in the state of Illinois.
The Solana at Deer Park will provide independent, assisted living and memory care within 197,225-square-feet and 180 total living units.
A three-story assisted living and memory care building will house 84 units and the four-story independent living area will hold 96 units.
Upon completion, the facility will boast a wine bar, amenity deck, restaurant, art studio and movie theater.A fitness room, dog run, bocce ball court, swimming pool and putting green will be available for resident use as well.

Thrive Senior Living Breaks Ground in Greer, S.C.
Thrive Senior Living and Pulliam Investment Company recently announced that they have broken ground on a new assisted living and memory care community in Greer, South Carolina.
The Village at Greer community will consist of 89 private resident suites, including a separate neighborhood for residents with memory support needs.
Technology, stemming from a partnership between Thrive and LG, will be featured at the community. The “Smart Senior Living platform allows the well-being of each resident to be monitored in an unobtrusive way. As part of the platform, medications are actively tracked in concert with physicians and pharmacies.
Thrive is currently piloting multiple technologies that it says will allow residents and their families to easily capture the story of their lives in a format that can be passed down to future generations.
On-site amenities will include an activity center, beauty salon, spa, coffee shop and a fitness center.
Atlanta, Georgia-based THW Architects and Studio Six 5 Interiors from Austin, Texas are providing design for the project, while construction is being overseen by a joint venture between Culpepper Construction Company and Compass Contracting.
Construction financing has been provided by Certus Bank and Contemporary Healthcare Capital for The Village at Greer.

Benchmark Senior Living Opens 50th Community
Benchmark Senior Living is preparing to open the doors to its 50th community this month in Shelton, Connecticut.
The $25 million community, Benchmark at Split Rock, will open May 19 and will feature 92 apartments—72 traditional assisted living and 20 memory care units in their own secured neighborhood of the building.
From an environmental standpoint, Benchmark at Split Rock is registered under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Homes green building rating system. The community is expected to achieve a Gold level certification under the USGBC system.
The Wellesley, Massachusetts-based senior living provider currently owns and operates 16 other senior living communities in the state of Connecticut.
