Newcastle is the first stop for this year’s RIBA CPD Roadshows. Senior Architectural Systems will be joining other selected RIBA Approved CPD providers to present seminars throughout the day.
Held at the Royal Station Hotel from 9.30am-4.00pm, it’s a chance for architects plus construction and design professionals to earn a whole day’s worth of CPD credits. In fact, RIBA members can gain double CPD points when attending any RIBA-approved CPD Roadshow.
More importantly it’s a way for delegates to gain up-to-date knowledge and enhanced personal proficiency on a wide range of subjects from some of the top companies in their field.
The event is free for RIBA members and attendees can book as many as five sessions throughout the day; all last an hour and are accredited under the RIBA CPD Core Curriculum.
As leaders in the design and supply of energy efficient fenestration systems to the construction industry, Senior will be presenting their own RIBA Approved CPD on ‘Designing Sustainable Fenestration’.
Designing Sustainable Fenestration
The aim of the seminar is to help delegates understand what’s involved in the sustainable design of fenestration, outline current materials available for fenestration and describe the additional benefits available from manufacturers, installers and fabricators.
It explains what is meant by the terms ‘Sustainability’, ‘Cradle to Cradle’ life cycles and ‘Urban Mines’ and covers BREEAM certification for new buildings, showing how with careful design and specification a BREEAM excellent rating can be achieved.
Bernard Turgoose, Technical Service Manager at Senior and CPD presenter
Bernard Turgoose, Technical Service Manager at Senior will be presenting the seminar. With over 30 years’ experience in the Fenestration industry, Bernard is a regular and entertaining presenter of CPD seminars both for Senior and CAB (Council for Aluminium in Building).
According to Bernard “the Senior seminar will give architects a better understanding of the options and choice of materials in fenestration and the Roadshow event helps us to build mutually beneficial relationships within the industry.”
The seminar will look at the fenestration industry as a whole , but there will be a chance for delegates to visit the Senior stand during break-out sessions, to learn about the company’s latest innovations in fenestration materials.
Seminar Success
This is the second year that Senior has presented their ‘Designing Sustainable Fenestration’ at the RIBA roadshows and has proved highly popular with delegates. So much so that Senior has been asked by delegates to present the seminar “in-house” to other members of their practice.
Any architects who are unable to attend the RIBA Roadshows, can book the free Senior ‘Designing Sustainable Fenestration’ CPD Seminar by phone, e-mail or via the online form.
Networking
One of the additional benefits for delegates is the chance to network with other design professionals and leading suppliers to the industry. There will be regular breaks throughout the day, with time to enjoy refreshments, circulate and pick the brains of some of the finest minds within the industry.
Future Roadshow Events
RIBA will be running a further 19 CPD Providers Roadshows around the UK throughout 2014, at which Senior will be presenting the ‘Designing Sustainable Fenestration’ seminar.
Senior is currently developing a new CPD seminar “Detailing and Delivering Fenestration Solutions”
which will be a guide to best practice. Once RIBA approval has been granted the new CPD seminar will be added to the RIBA Roadshows.
