About the Webinar
In the past, many NoSQL systems came with minimal security features and put security functions in the application layer. However, some newer NoSQL databases are supporting fine-grain security policy management. In this webinar we will discuss the trends in NoSQL security and the ability for new releases of some NoSQL databases to address in-database security concerns. We will see how security policies can be migrated from SQL to NoSQL systems.
About the Panel
Michael Allen
Michael Allen is sqrrl’s security architect. Before joining the team, Mike finished up 9 years working for PGP Corporation (and, post-acquisition, Symantec) in a variety of roles developing encryption software. In addition to encryption systems, Michael has extensive experience working with Java and Java-based web applications. He holds an MS in Computer Science from UC Santa Cruz, and a BA in Computer Science from Pomona College. When he’s not making things up at work, Michael makes things up with other actors performing improvisational theater.
Adam Retter
Adam is one of the core developers of the eXist-db Open Source project and has been using and contributing to eXist since 2005, he is also a founding partner of eXist Solutions. Adam is a member of the XML Guild and an Invited Expert to the W3C XML Query Working group. He also sits on the program committee of both the XML Prague and XML Summer School conferences, and the peer-review committee of the Balisage and XML London conferences. Adam is passionate about the Web, Code Quality, Open Standards and Portable Code, Adam has been promoting XQuery as a Web Application development language for the last seven years. Adam is currently developing RESTXQ to help XQuery work with the Web and co-authoring an
eXist book for O’Reilly.
About the Speaker
Dan is an enterprise data architect and author specializing in emerging database technologies. He has worked at Bell Labs, with Steve Job’s at NeXT Computer as well as founding his own consulting firm of over 75 people. His background includes topics such as high performance computing, programming languages, databases and XML standards. He has published articles on the semantic web, metadata registries, US Federal XML standards, XForms, XQuery and XRX. He is a co-author of the book “Making Sense of NoSQL” by Manning Publications.
