Jeffersonville-  There were 177 points, 143 shots from the field, 58 free throw attempts, 84 rebounds and only 13 turnovers in a wild Hoosier Hills Conference game Saturday in Jeffersonville.

The Madison Cubs gave the ninth ranked Class 4A Red Devils all they could handle.  However, Jeff came out on top in the 92-85 slugfest.

The visiting Cubs led 24-16 after the first quarter and 44-42 at halftime.  The Red Devils took over the lead in the latter half of the third quarter and never gave it back posting a 61-57 advantage with eight minutes to play.  Strong free throw shooting late sealed the win for the hosts.

Madison put up 81 shots in a 32 minute regulation game.  That’s one shot every 23.7 seconds.  Unfortunately, the Cubs only converted 31 attempts for 38 percent.

Jeffersonville was a more efficient 30 of 62 for 48 percent but really won the game from the free throw line making 14 more charity tosses than the Cubs.  A dozen came with under two minutes to play.  Both teams hit roughly 70 percent from the line.

In the loss, Madison saw four players hit double figures in scoring with two posting double-doubles.  Landon Perry tied for game high honors with 30 points and Nick Macon tossed in 17 points plus contributed six assists.

The double-doubles came from Carson Wattenbarger and Tyler Manaugh who both scored 16 on the night.  Wattenbarger cleared the glass for 20 rebounds and Manaugh grabbed 11 boards.
