Business customers can now pre-register for BT’s forthcoming 4G mobile service, which is set to launch later this summer.

The firm recently signed a wholesale agreement with EE to power its next generation of mobile services.

Last week BT told investors its new business mobile packages would launch “in the coming weeks” with a consumer offering following later this year or early next.

Initially the service will use EE’s network for all services, with users also having access to BT’s 5.4m WiFi hotspots for additional mobile connectivity.

Then, over the next two years, BT will roll-out a new version of its HomeHub broadband router which will include a 4G cell, boosting the signal available in homes and other premises.

When combined with the telco’s WiFi and fibre broadband networks, this will create an ‘always best connected’ customer experience, ideal for heavy in-door data use.

Speaking to investors, BT CEO Gavin Patterson said the combination of technologies would produce “a high-capacity, data-rich network” which would “provide some really compelling services to customers who want access to the internet wherever they are with a very high-quality service.”
