Aria Suarez has her life all planned out.  She will go to music school where she will learn to become a world famous pianist, something she has prepared all her life for.  She also hopes her high school love, Nick Williams, will be a part of this future.  However, after high school graduation, Nick leaves immediately to join the military and leaves Aria and high school behind.  At first, he writes her often, but after a couple of years the letters stop.  Then, Aria receives devastating news shortly before college graduation.  Her life soon thereafter takes a completely new direction.

Nick Williams can’t wait to graduate high school and leave home to escape a drunken abusive father.  He is in love with Aria, but won’t ever tell her.  She is too good for him.  He joins the military.  After a couple of years, he is injured on a mission.  While recovering, he meets someone who offers him a different way to serve his country.  The decision to change careers changes Nick’s life forever.

Fast forward twelve years to the present day.  Aria works as a nuclear engineer and discovers a plot to assassinate several top U.S. government officials.  She notifies the government and an agent is sent to quietly give the appearance of an investigation, but this is supposed to be an open and shut case with no real effort put forth to investigate.  When the agent arrives to see what proof Aria has, things begin to happen and Aria’s life is threatened and the intense chase begins.  Can this agent be trusted?  Can he keep her safe?  Will her heart, her very life ever know rest again?

This story has got it all…a great romance, lots of heart-pounding action, suspense and thrills.  I also appreciated all the information included after the story.  The various recipes sound delicious, and the explanation of the military jargon and other terms was most helpful.  Readers are given just a tantalizing tidbit from the next book in the series, A Carol for Kent.  I just loved watching God transform and bring healing to various lives in this story.  Hallee does such an excellent job of making her characters come to life and matter to readers.  I highly recommend the series.  This is one readers will find immensely entertaining and enjoyable and will learn something new as well.  I can’t wait for the next book in the series!  Please hurry Hallee!

My rating is 5 stars.
