Position Summary:

MetLife’s Local Market Sales is a division of Group Benefits Sales, dedicated to serving the employee benefit needs of businesses with 2 – 999 employees.  MetLife provides a range of quality products and services through brokers and consultants as well as direct to customers.  A Local Market Account Executive develops and maintains relationships with these intermediaries and helps them deliver MetLife products and services that meet the needs of their business clients. This involves meeting with customers, brokers and consultants to promote our products and services.

Position Responsibilities:

Works fairly independently under the direction of a Regional Director

Promotes and sells our Disability, Dental and Life products

Maintains and grows the book of business through new sales, up selling, and renewals, within assigned territory

Identifies value-add benefit solutions beyond primary product sale responsibilities by positioning cross-channel product offerings and partners effectively to create valuable client-focused benefit solutions

Builds lasting reciprocal relationships with clients through open communication around mutual objectives

Provides sound financial consultation to client organization

Provides post-sale service and support to clients

Resolves escalated service issues

Generates reports to track activities, progress, and strategies

Participates in RFP strategy, implementation, and administration processes

Job Requirements

Three plus years previous experience successfully selling Employee Benefits related products either from a competing carrier or employee benefits consulting company.

Obtaining Life, Accident and Health and state Life licenses is required; CEBS is a plus

Knowledge of business operations, products, marketplace, planning, and budgeting is a plus

Knowledgeable regarding Group Benefit Sales marketplace

Interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, sound business judgment

Proficient in software packages including Excel and Access

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization

Apply knowledge of broad product portfolio and technology to position MetLife value proposition to achieve results in line with the client needs

Serve as a strategic salesperson and provides insight on clients, competitors and the market by leveraging internal and industry tools and reports

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Initiate frequent interaction with clients and intermediaries to build mutual trust and credibility
