Configuration Management Engineer / Tools Engineer
Overview:
Attachmate is looking for a Configuration Management / Tools Engineer who will design and develop build systems and tools that are flexible and scalable across multiple platforms. We’re looking for a self-starter who is excited about the opportunity to develop automated SCM tools in a dynamic environment. The candidate will effectively support development project teams related to, integrated with, or interfaced with assigned programs / projects. Candidate responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
Work with other CM engineers, developers, test engineers, and project managers to help build a comprehensive development, build, test and release infrastructure that will support the successful delivery of our product lines.
Employ standards and best practices for CM and related processes including automating and documenting software builds and educating others in CM processes.
Utilize CM architecture and branching strategies in software version control tool.
Design and implement internal tools to enhance the build and release process.
Researching new technology including tools to help the continued evolvement of our build systems.
Assist in general system administration of Linux / UNIX and Windows build servers by installing, upgrading and configuring build tools and updates.
Required Skills:
BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Experience writing in scripting languages such as Ant, Perl or other current language.
Knowledge of code branch management preferably perforce.
Knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery principles and tools such as Jenkins, Hudson and Cruise Control.
Configuration Management and Software Release principles.
Excellent verbal and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Multi-platform software build and tools experience, with solid knowledge of building and testing software in Linux / UNIX and Windows environments.
Familiarity with VMware products.
Experience with Maven.
Experience in object oriented languages such as C#, Java or others.
Experience in Agile development environment.
