SEATTLE (AP) — The state Health Department says the number of flu-like illnesses in Washington is slightly higher than at this time last year.

Health Department educator Michelle Harper says there have been no laboratory-confirmed flu deaths. Last flu season there were 79 flu-related deaths in Washington.

KOMO reports an outbreak of flu-like illness on Wednesday prompted Eastside Preparatory School in Kirkland to close school early for the holiday break.
