Super Bowl commercials have always been a big part of watching the game, but in recent years, the Internet has given new life to these 30 second to 2 minute advertising spots. Many of the biggest ads now debut a week or more before the game, and will continue to have new life on YouTube and other streaming video sites for weeks after the Lombardi Trophy has been awarded and the MVP has been announced. (Just take a look at Volkswagen's epic Darth Vader Super Bowl ad from 2011, which continues to be a hit on social media to this day.)
Many of the biggest Super Bowl XLVIII ads feature notable celebrity cameos. Dannon got a ton of free Internet buzz before the game after teasing a "Full House" reunion with John Stamos, Bob Saget, and Dave Coulier. British villains Ben Kingsley, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Strong also appear on behalf of a car company, touting the hotly anticipated Jaguar. Volkswagen also returns this year with a new ad, featuring a road trip to the big game with the Muppets and Axe Body Spray regular Terry Crews.
