Japan is to train Bangladeshi entrepreneurs
Japan has expressed interest in training Bangladeshi youth in various tech related areas so that they can be groomed into future entrepreneurs. Initially 10 Bangladeshi men and 10 Bangladeshi women will be selected by the Bangladesh government for the training in Japan. Gradually, the number of intakes will increase accordingly. The training will be provided by the international human resource development organization of Japan.
Grameenphone officially enters the mobile music scene
Grameenphone, the largest mobile operator of the country, has launched a new service called GP Music. Grameenphone is eying to make its music offering as the biggest platform for all forms of digital music in the country. Users can choose from a wide range of music available on GP Music and download per track for Taka 5 and per album for Taka 40. Currently, users can download music from http://music.grameenphone.com and later an android app will be made available in Google Play store for mobile use.
Symphony officially launches its flagship phone, ZVI
Symphony has unveiled its flagship phone titled Symphony ZVI priced modestly at Taka 14,990 only. The phone packs a host of features that will appeal to mass mobile consumers who are looking for quality features at an affordable budget. Robi launches new postpaid package
Robi, the 3rd largest mobile operator of the country, has launched a new postpaid plan named, Acquisition Pack. Users can pay a security deposit of Taka 500 and avail the plan without any new connection charges. Users will also get a welcome bonus worth Taka 500 that will be offered in the form of 500 MB internet, 500 SMS and 500 MMS for 1 month. Users will also get news alert and missed call alerts service free for 3 months. The tariff has been fixed as Taka 0.10 per 10 seconds for voice calls to all local numbers, Taka 0.35 per SMS to all local numbers and Taka 0.50 per MB of internet usage. There will be no line rent for this package. Users can avail bonuses based on every month’s regular mobile services usage and also choose the last 6 digits according to their own choice.
Banglalink introduces new internet plans
Banglalink, the 2nd largest mobile telecom operator in Bangladesh, has introduced unique internet packs, designed for lower wallet size, especially geared towards students. These data packs are available against each denomination within the range of BDT 1 to BDT 20. Users can subscribe any internet pack based on their inputs of price denomination they want to spend. To subscribe to the Banglalink pocket internet packs, users just need to dial *5000*600# and in reply users will be asked to input their required denomination.
US-Bangla Airlines plans to spread wings internationally this year
US-Bangla Airlines have started new routes to Barisal and Rajshahi from Dhaka for as low as Taka 3200 for a single leg journey. Currently the airlines has the widest domestic air flights network in Bangladesh and it is very much keen to start operating international flights within this year. US-Bangla Airlines wants to spread its wings to Kolkata, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and other international destinations. For this, a new Boeing 737 aircraft has been acquired by the airline.
Harrassment on Facebook & Twitter will be punishable offence
From now on, any form of harrassment on Facebook and Twitter will be treated as punishable offence. Harrassment victims can lodge complaints with Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission [BTRC] by calling +88029611111 or emailing at btrc@btrc.gov.bd and action will be taken within 24 hours along with the culprit being brought to book within 3 days maximum.
