“Grey’s Anatomy” is famous for throwing some big punches before going on break, and even though Thursday’s (Nov. 17) episode, “You Haven’t Done Nothin,” didn’t do anything too dramatic — no bombs, active shooters, major character deaths or long-lost siblings appearing, it did leave viewers with a slew of unanswered questions.

The winter break finale left us all still wondering if Karev (Justin Chambers) is going to jail, if Eliza Minnick (Marika Dominczyk) will take over Webber’s job, and whether Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) is gone for good after leaving Owen a goodbye note with explicit instructions to not search of her.

Screener is ready to tackle all of these cliffhangers, starting with Karev: He’s not going anywhere, least of all jail. Meredith’s (Ellen Pompeo) fierce speech and impassioned voicemail seemed to get through to him just in time. Taking a two-year plea would mean he’s giving up, and Meredith won’t stand for that. As long as she’s alive and kicking, our girl won’t ever comprehend the concept — plus, she needs Karev. Her children love him, he can make a mean waffle, and he’s one of the best pediatric surgeons in Seattle — he had a lapse in judgement, but he is not a bad man.

It’s safe to assume Karev will have his come-to-Meredith moment and keep fighting — not just to save his career, but to stick around in case Jo’s (Camilla Luddington) husband ever shows up — though we doubt this man will ever find Jo in Seattle. The look on DeLuca’s (Giacomo Gianniotti) face when Jo walked away from him said, “I am going to drop the case, because I don’t want to put your life in peril.”

This entire situation is frustrating, because all roads lead back to Jo’s dishonesty: Her name isn’t even Jo, her whole life is a lie, and everyone close to her is suffering because of it. She may be devastatingly beautiful, but she’s only thinking of herself. And she’s lucky to be surrounded by so many men who think the ground she walks on is paved in gold. While she’s had it tougher than most in the real world, she’s not even in the top ten sob stories at Grey Sloan. Maybe Jo‘s the one in need of a patented Meredith Grey pep-talk/takedown. If that doesn’t get her head on straight, nothing will — and she might be better off checking out permanently.

Now, in regards to The People v. Eliza Winnick, if Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and the entire hospital staff refuse to work with Winnick, it will be in Catherine Avery’s favor to keep Webber (James Pickens Jr.) in his place as the residency program’s chief director.

Webber is not going to deal well with the fact that his own wife doesn’t think he’s capable of training and producing the next generation of the world’s top tier surgeons — but ultimately, Catherine needs a reminder of how stellar he is at his job. She needs to see Webber in action, even if it means the end of the marriage — as long as it’s not the end of Webber on “Grey’s.”

But is it the end for Amelia? Owen (Kevin McKidd) has once again found himself in love with someone who doesn’t want kids, like his worst nightmare happening all over again. Where did Amelia go? We don’t know. Will she ever return? After having such a dramatic story arc so far this season — and Scorsone blowing it out of the park in the acting department — it wouldn’t feel like an absolute surprise if Amelia took her time coming home…

But fear not!

Scorsone is pregnant in real life, and on maternity leave. McKidd told TV Line that she will only be gone for three episodes. So Hunt will find her eventually, and they will talk it out. Meredith’s sister-in-law will be back. But if she will continue being Mrs. Owen Hunt is yet to be seen.

Other cliffhangers left in the balance include discovering whether Maggie will ever find out about Riggs (Nathan Henderson) and Meredith, if Japril will get back together, and if in addition to Owen’s maybe not-actually-dead sister, if his first wife that no one knew ever existed will show up one day. Since show creator Shonda Rhimes keeps batting down the rumors Megan will appear alive and well, we hope Owen’s first wife makes an appearance.

Will she be more like Christina or Amelia? It might even be someone who’s worked at Grey Sloan before. We will have to wait and see.

“Grey’s Anatomy” returns Jan. 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
