Australian Megafauna – Thylacoleo 2014 1oz Silver Proof Coin

Mini Kookaburra 2014 0.5g Gold Coin

100th Anniversary of Australian Red Cross Stamp & Coin Cover

150th Anniversay of A.B. "Banjo" Paterson Stamp & Coin Cover

I don't have any interest in most of them as i'm not really into numismatic coins but there's two issues that I think could be real winners

so I'm going to be sitting up at 2 am and pick up a few before they sell out.

Treasure of the world is a series that began last year, the first issue was Europe and had some kind of obscure metal in the locket.

This year it's Australia and even better, our metal is gold, so the locket contains 0.2 grams of gold, not much but looks real nice.

The 1 oz gold version has quite a high premium, $2,765 is a lot but there's only 750 made, out of my budget but a beautiful coin.

The Silver coin on the other hand is $118.50 with 7,500 minted, it's a little more than i'd like, the last issue still hasn't sold out

but that's a good thing if your wanting to collect the whole series, I think this is a nice gift coin.

But the main issue that's got me a bit excited tonight is the Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle.

They look great, seem quite limited but a little confusing as I believe they were produced exclusively for an american bullion dealer,

have already been on sale in the U.S. and now there's an allocation of them here in Australia, these are Australian legal tender coins,

made by the Perth Mint.

Obviously these are hot in America, the wedge-tailed eagle looks awesome!

But that's not the only reason why the're so hot in the states, it's also because the designer is John Mercanti,

former chief engraver for the U.S. Mint.

There's two different size coins, 1 oz & 5 oz, Both strangely have an issue of 5,000 coins which seems out of whack to me.

i'd expect the 1 oz to have a higher mintage.

The 5 oz coin is a high relief, so it'll be a nice chunky coin, both the 1 oz and 5 oz coins come in a box etc.

1 oz Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle $99

5 oz Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle $485

You know, even the price doesn't seem right, I'd rather have 5 x 1 oz coins all in boxes then just one 5 oz coin in box for the same price.

with 5000 of each I can't see how the 1 oz version could last, I think they'll sell out by the end of the night.

I believe only Australian buyers will be able to buy these from the Perth Mint tonight, if that's the case then there sure will be a hungry market in the U.S. for 'em.

I think these will be a real winner, even though silver is cheap at under US$20 oz and a good time to get raw bullion, these should appreciate in value quickly.

Anyone else going to be lurking around the Perth Mint site tonight?
