B General Entry Requirements

Applicants who possess the following qualifications may be

considered for admission into Higher National Diploma

Programmes:

(i). SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB entry requirements for the

corresponding National Diploma Programmes;

(ii). The National Diploma with a minimum of LOWER CREDIT

classification in the cognate National Diploma (ND)

programme from any NBTE recognized Institution;

(iii). Candidates must have at least one- year work

experience in the field of

specialization;

(iv). Candidates with Pass classification shall be required to

have at least two (2) years’ work experience before they can

be considered for admission.

C. GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR NATIONAL

DIPLOMA (ND) PROGRAMMES

1 SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE

(i) AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY

(ii) FISHERIES AND ACQUA-CULTURE TECHNOLOGY

(iii) HORTICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY

Candidates must possess the West African School Certificate

or Senior Secondary Certificate or GCE/O’ Level or its

equivalent with a minimum of five credits at not more than

two sittings in English Language, Biology/Agricultural

Science, Mathematics and any two from the following

subjects: Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Economics /

Commerce, Technical Drawing, Food & Nutrition, Home

Economics, French Language, Nigerian Language.

At least a Pass in Chemistry is compulsory.

Government / History, Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo, Biology /

Agricultural Science, Office Practice, Physics/Chemistry (only

one Science subject: ) OR:

NABTEB: With at least 5 credits at one sitting, which must

include: Mathematics & English Language and any three

from the following:

(a). GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( TWO Subjects from

the following)

Economics/ Commerce, Physics/ Chemistry, Government,

Lit. in English, Social Studies and Biology

(b). TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS

( ONE Subject from the

following)

Principles of Accounts, Social Studies, Office Practice,

Information Communication Technology.

(vi) OFFICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at one sittings, which must include: English Language,

Mathematics and any three from the following: Business

Methods, Economics/ Commerce, Typewriting, Shorthand,

Principles of Accounts/ Book Keeping, Mathematics, History,

Statistics, Literature-in-English, Government, Geography,

Biology, CRK/Islamic Studies, any one science subject.

OR

NABTEB: With at least 5 credits at two sitting, which must

include: English Language and Mathematics any other three

from the following:

(a). GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( TWO Subjects form

the following)

Principles of Account/ Book Keeping, Economics/ Commerce,

Physics/ Chemistry, Government/ Social Studies,

Mathematics, Lit. in English and Biology/ Agricultural

Science.

(b)TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE

Subject from the following)

Shorthand, Typewriting, Office Practice and Information

Communication Technology,

3. SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION & LIBERAL STUDIES

( i) MASS COMMUNICATION

SSCE or WASCE O’level or NECO with at least five (5) credits

at one sitting, which must include: English Language, and

Mathematics and any other three subjects from: History,

Literature in English, Economics/Commerce, Fine Arts,

Government, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electricity,

Geography, Typewriting, Commerce / Principles of

Accounting, Nigerian Language (Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo).

Passes in Physics or Electronics/Basic Electricity will be an

advantage.

3. SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY

(i) HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at two sittings, which must include: Biology/

Agricultural Science/Health Science, Mathematics, English

Language and any two of the following: Physics, Chemistry,

Government, Economics/Commerce, Food and Nutrition/

Home Management, Health Science, Geography, French

Language, Book Keeping/Accounts, Home Economics,

Business Methods.

OR

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must

include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Food &

Nutrition/Basic Cookery and any other one subject from the

following: Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Basic Electronics

and Home Management.

(ii) SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at two sittings, which must include: Mathematics,

English Language and two subjects from Physics, Biology/

Agricultural Science, Health Science, Geography, and one

other subject from Technical Drawing, Metal or Wood-Work,

Basic Electricity, Economics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry

Biology/ Agricultural Science, Physics and Fine Art

At least a Pass in each of the three basic sciences i.e.

Biology, Chemistry, Physics is required.

(iii) COMPUTER SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five (5)

credits at one sitting, which must include Mathematics,

English Language, a basic science, and any two other

subjects chosen from the following: Economics, Geography,

Chemistry, Further/Additional Mathematics, Physics,

Statistics, Biology/ Agricultural Science and Typewriting.

Candidates are expected to have at least a pass in Physics.

OR

NABTEB: With at least five credits at one sitting, which must

include Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Basic

Electronics and two subjects from the following: Biology,

Chemistry, and General Metal Work.

(iv) FOOD TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with a minimum of

five credits at two sittings, which must include English

Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/ Agricultural

Science/Health Science and any one subject from: Physics,

Economics/ Commerce, Additional/Further Mathematics,

Technical Drawing, Home Economics, Food & Nutrition,

Geography . At least Pass in Physics is compulsory.

(V) LEISURE & TOURISM TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at two sittings, which must include: English Language,

Mathematics, Geography, a basic science and one subject

from Economics/Commerce, History, Book Keeping,

Principles of Account, Fine Art, French Language,

Government, Food & Nutrition, Home Management,

Nigerian Language.

4. SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

(i ) ART & INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at two sittings

which must include: English Language, Mathematics, and

any other three credit passes from the following: History/

Government, Chemistry/Physics, Fine Art, Biology/

Agricultural Science, Literature in English, Clothing &

Textiles, Religious Knowledge, Economics/Commerce,

Geography, Home Economics.

(ii) BUILDING TECHNOLOGY

(iii) QUANTITY SURVEYING TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at two sittings which must include: English Language,

Mathematics, Physics and any two of the following:

Economics/Commerce, Technical Drawing/Fine Art,

Chemistry, Geography, Wood-Work, Biology, Religious

Knowledge, Metal Work, Building Construction and Physics.

A Pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage.

OR

NABTEB: With at least five credit at two sittings, which must

include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two

subjects from the following:

(a) GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( ONE Subjects form

the following)

Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Economics/

Commerce, Fine Art,/ Technical Drawing, Geography.

(b) TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE

Subject from the following)

Block Laying & Concreting, Carpentry & Joinery, Furniture

Craft Practice, Painting & Decoration, General Wood Work,

Machine Wood Creating.

(iv) ESTATE MANAGEMENT AND VALUATION

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credit at two sittings, which must include Mathematics,

English Language and at least a basic science subject from

Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and any two subjects from

the following: Geography, Economics/Commerce, Principle

of Accounts, Literature in English, Metal Work, Wood Work,

Art, Technical Drawing, Government and Book Keeping

OR

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must

include English, Mathematics and one basic science from

Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and two subjects from the

following: General Woodwork, General Metal Work,

Economics, Building Engineering Drawing, and Principles of

Accounts and Agricultural Science.

(iv) ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at two sittings which must include: English Language,

Mathematics Physics and any two from the following:

Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing, Art, Geography,

History, Further Mathematics, Economics/ Commerce,

Business Methods, and Religious Knowledge.

At least a pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing will be an

advantage.

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must

include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics/Chemistry

and General Woodwork, and any one from Economics and

Biology.

(vi) URBAN & REGIONAL PLANNING

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five

credits at two sittings, which must include Mathematics,

English Language, Geography and two other subjects from

the following: Economics/ Commerce, Technical Drawing/

Art, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Further

Mathematics, History/ Government, Business Methods/Book

Keeping and Principles of Account.

One of the two subjects must be a basic science subject OR

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must

include Mathematics, English Language and at least a basic

science subject from Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and

two subjects from the following: General Woodwork,

General Metal Work, Economics, Building Engineering

Drawing, and Principles of Accounts.

5. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

(i). AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

(ii) COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

(iii) CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

(iv) CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’ level or NECO with at least five

credit at two sittings, which must include English Language,

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and one subject from:

Biology/ Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic

Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work,

Woodwork (for Civil Engineering Technology), Further

Mathematics, Economics/ Commerce, Geography.(For

Agricultural Engineering: Biology/Agricultural Science, Food

& Nutrition and at least a pass in Chemistry and Biology/

Agricultural Science are necessary).

OR

(i) CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must

include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry

and one subject from the following:

TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE

Subject from the following)

General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Basic Electronics,

Biology, Building Engineering/Drawing.

(ii) AGRICULTURAL & BIO-ENVIRONMENTAL

ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must

include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Biology

and one from the following:
