Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke have courted controversy recently for their very racey music videos for their latest singles, with both clips featuring a fair amount of gratuitous nudity. But they are definitely not the first musicians who have caused a stir with sexy music videos. Check out our list below and let us know if we missed any.

Rihanna – S&M

Really nobody should have been surprised at this clip. Hell, Rhi Rhi was talking about the fact that ‘whips and chains’ excite her and the clip definitely lived up to it’s provocative title. It had it all – journalists wearing ball-gags, whipping grown men on leashes, censored boobs, latex, ropes, suggestive bananas, gladwrap… Okay we don’t quite get the glad wrap, but many other didn’t either as the clip was banned by many stations across the globe.

Diplo feat. Lazerdisk Party Sex – Set It Off

Pole dancing is sexy. Pole dancing in slow motion is really sexy.

Eric Prydz – Call On Me

What could be controversial about a film clip for a cheesy house song sampling a classic 1980′s ballad where the only thing that is happening in the video is aerobics? Well a lot if those doing the aerobics aren’t wearing all that much and are getting so hot and heavy with their workout that it made former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair fall off his rowing machine when he saw it (true story). This isn’t even the naughtiest version! NME Magazine placed it in it’s Worst Film Clips of All-Time list, but with 52 million views on YouTube, it seems many people disagree.

Benny Benassi – ‘ Who’s Your Daddy ‘

Madonna – Justify My Love

Madonna has a long list of controversially sexy film clips that have at one time or another been banned or slammed for being too risque like “Erotic” and “Girls Gone Wild”. But is has to be “Justify My Love” that caused the biggest stir with it’s intense hotel heavy petting session copping bans left, right and centre. Though it may look a little tame today, MTV refused to play it and Madge eventually released it as a VHS video single (yeah that used to be a thing) and it became a bestseller.

Alex Gaudino – Destination Calabria

How do you make marching bands sexy? Oh, by putting them in the shortest of short skirts and getting them to polish their wind instruments we suppose. We swear this song would not be a quarter as popular as it was without this film clip (which according to some sources probably set the feminist movement back about 20 years).

NE.R.D. – Lapdance

The video for N.E.R.D.’s Lapdance is NSFW with good reason, it features “Girls Girls Girls” a couch-filled champagne room at a strip club. If you’re a fan of watching dudes’ faces when multiple girls are grinding on them, this is for you.

The Klaxons – Twin Flames

Arguably the best mutant orgy ever documented. This one is definitely NSFW.

Enrique Iglesias – Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)

Now if you know the dirty, non-radio version of this song, then it was obvious that the clip was going to get a little racey. Enrique finds some time to, ahem, apply some lovin to some gorgeous women who have found the perfect soft lighting for such an occasion. It may also be the only time Ludacris has looked relatively behaved in a film clip, with Enrique completely outdoing him in the naughty department.

Sebastien Tellier – Cochon Ville

This video is definitely NSFW. If you’re a Sebastien Tellier fan, you’d know you can pretty much chuck an album of his on repeat and go all night… and by the looks of this video he welcomes that.

Benny Benassi – Satisfaction

This song actually had 3 different film clips. Funnily enough, this is the only one that people remember. It may be because of the sweaty, busty women operating various power tools, but we like to think it is because of the epic fail at the 9 second mark. We definitely wouldn’t employ her in the construction of our home.

Duran Duran – Girls On Film

This video was banned pretty much everywhere in the world when it was released, we still think it holds up today.

Justin Timberlake – Tunnel Vision / Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines

Having a look at JT and Robin’s clips above, are they better or worse?
