The Dow Jones News Fund has named Jason Wallestad as one of four Distinguished Advisers in its annual Teacher Awards Program. Wallestad teaches journalism and advises the Knight Errant newspaper and website at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School in St. Louis Park, Minn.  His also co-owns School Newspapers Online, the leading provider of digital publishing services for scholastic news organizations.

The DJNF named Jim Streisel, journalism teacher and media adviser at Carmel (Ind.) High School, as 2013 National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year. In addition to Wallestad and Streisel, the Fund will also honor three other Distinguished Advisers and three Special Recognition Advisers at the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention Nov. 16 in Boston.

Wallestad and the other Distinguished Advisers will receive access to Poynter Institute webinars plus subscriptions to WSJ.com courtesy of the publishers of The Wall Street Journal. A student from each of these advisers’ schools will each receive a $500 scholarship.
