Brought to you by Nuffnang and Virgin Money Australia

It has been over 7 years since I met my first baby and how time flies!! Occasionally I look over to my husband and ask him if he can remember what it was like for us before we had kids and both of us agree it seems like a faint memory.

I love our kids so much (I went back for 2 more rounds haha) but I have to admit I do occasionally dream of what it would be like to taste my meals properly, pee alone or have a spontaneous evening out, lol.  We were starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel after our second daughter turned 4 and our oldest was 7 but as soon as the haze had started to clear we welcomed baby Ellis into the family and found ourselves right back in the fog. Having said that I will admit it definitely is easier after each baby you have or at least that is my experience.

We recently took Mr 5 months to Dubai for a week and there is no way I would have had the confidence to do that with my first baby but time and experience is a beautiful thing.

There is so much you don’t know when you have not had kids before and I had some lovely friends give me some great presents for all three of my kidlets.  Here are a few things that stood out to me that I received.

Baby Number 1

My husband’s best friend’s wife (complicated much haha) was very passionate about modern cloth nappies 7 years ago when they were only just becoming a thing.  She sent me a little document she put together about them and disposable nappies with a few comparisons and info.  I remember at the time thinking wow this is serious lol but how grateful I was for her thoughts and experience.

Back then, modern cloth nappies were $30 each so as a baby shower gift I asked everyone sponsor a nappy and in total received over 20 nappies, which gave me enough to use them full time and save myself and the environment thousands of dollars.  I have since used those same nappies (pictured above) on all 3 of my children

Baby Number 2

For my second daughter I remember one of my girl friends arriving at the hospital to give me a fancy food hamper of things I could not eat while I was pregnant but could now that the baby had arrived.  Most people love buying cute little clothes for babies so it is super lovely when someone remembers that you have just come out the other side of being pregnant and birthing your baby (however that happened) so some TLC for mum is always welcomed and a lovely surprise.

Baby Number 3

For baby number three you think there is not much more you need or you have not received before but life is always full of surprises. One of my online friends and colleague gave me this cute cubbie with all the details of my son’s name and birth on it and I just LOVE IT.  Most of the details of my first 2 daughter’s birth are a faint memory written down somewhere but I get to see this everyday and am reminded and he loves it, so I am very grateful for this.
