Our annual Repeal of Prohibition Beer Festival at Schlafly Bottleworks is almost upon us and we couldn’t be more excited. This festival celebrates two key milestones in beer history: the anniversary of the April 7th, 1933 implementation of the “Cullen-Harrison Act” which began the march towards federal repeal of Prohibition by legalizing beer with an alcohol content of 3.2% and… the 12th anniversary of the opening of Schlafly Bottleworks, our main production brewery, restaurant, garden, and “community center” in the heart of Maplewood, MO.

The real stand out feature of our Repeal Fest is that each year we invite brewers from other states not currently distributed in Missouri to participate with us. This year our visiting breweries are coming all the way from Washington State! Tickets are on sale now at both Schlafly breweries and online for $25 ($26 online) and our going fast. Your tickets gets you a commemorative glass and samplings from over 30 beer styles. There will also be great food available for purchase, live music, and other cool goings on.

Still on the fence? Check out this amazing beer list from our visiting breweries that will be available for tasting alongside a bevy of Schlafly offerings:

Top Cutter IPA - 6.8% ABV, 70 IBU
Our flagship IPA is a well-balanced yet aggressive West Coast IPA that showcases Yakima Valley hops at their finest. Late additions of Simcoe®, Citra®, Ahtanum™, and Mosaic™ give this beer its complex citrus, fruity, and floral aroma and flavor. Named for a unique piece of farm equipment that removes hop vines from the trellis during the annual hop harvest, Topcutter IPA delivers loads of hoppiness all year long.

Farmer’s Brow Ale- 7.5% ABV, 60 IBU
A rather large wheat beer brewed with loads of hops and fermented with a classic German wheat yeast. Fruity and bitter.

Mumbly Plums - 6 ABV, 20 IBU
A dark Belgian-style ale brewed with Italian plums. Sweet and fruit forward with enough acidity to keep it from being cloyingly sweet.

Red Roses - 7.3 ABV, 25 IBU
A dark red Belgian-style ale brewed with Szechuan peppercorns and rose petals. It is fruity, floral with hints of chocolate and toffee.

Sandy Beaches Scottish Ale - 6.5% ABV, 35 IBU
A light colored ale brewed in the Scottish style of big chewy malt flavor with an estery fruity finish. Brewed with oysters from Hama Hama in Lilliwaup, WA. Savory, sweet and fruity.

Tart Miso (American Wild Ale)- 4.5% ABV, 10 IBU
Our twist on the obscure German beer, a gose, which is a sour wheat beer brewed with spices and sea salt. This is brewed with five kinds of miso paste, making it sweet, salty, savory and sour.

Elysian Brewing Company / www.elysianbrewing.com / Twitter: @ElysianBrewing

Dark O’ The Moon: Pumpkin Stout -  6.5% ABV, 20 IBU
Pours dark as night with creamy tan head. A little smokiness on the nose with malty bittersweet chocolate and a little coffee with subtle earthy pumpkin and spices for an overall nice and creamy mouth. Bittered with Magnum and finished with Saaz and crushed cinnamon. Finished with Pumpkin in the mash, kettle and fermenter.

Dayglow IPA - 6.5% ABV, 65 IBU
Is a mind-bending whirl of the aromas and flavors of blood orange and Bittered with German Northern Brewer and Cascade hops and finished with Citra and Amarillo.

Split Shot: Espresso Milk Stout  - 5.6% ABV, 28 IBU
The combination of coffee and stout will definitely get your attention. Magnum hops add a touch of bitterness while Milk sugar sweetens just a bit, and Stumptown coffee provides an invigorating richness.

Superfuzz Blood Orange  -  5.4% ABV, 45 IBU
This is a beer with the insistent beat of hops, as driving and inevitable as a Full Moon party in Haad Rin. It drips with tropical, sunshiny Mosaic, and twinkles with touches of Eldorado and Centennial.

NoLi Brewhouse / www.nolibrewhouse.com / Twitter: @NoLiBrewhouse

Born & Raised: IPA- 7% ABV, 85 IBU
This big, bold copper-colored ale showcases Munich & Crystal malts to create a big supportive body on which we layer our favorite Washington hops. Chinook & Cascade provide citrus and piney flavors, while Northern Brewer adds a hint of mint. Dry-hopping with Cascade and Columbus increases the beer’s hoppy aromas. Malt, hops and yeast-derived fruitiness combine to create our most complex offering.

Empire NO. 8 Session IPA- 5.5% ABV, 67 IBU
Just as the Empire No. 8 rail-line brought people thirsty for adventure out West to Portland, Seattle and Spokane, this Spokane-Style session IPA brings people together for their adventures, big and small. This lower-alcohol, hop-forward beer’s subtle nutty and honey malt backbone lets the grapefruit and lemon-citrus notes shine.

Jet Star Imperial IPA - 8.1% ABV, 115 IBU
Brewed to showcase local, Washington-grown hops in all their glory, Jet Star’s malt is intentionally subdued to allow the double-dosed hops from the late kettle hop additions and dry-hopping to take over the beer. Chinook and Cascade hops provide the classic citrus and pint aroma associated with big, bold American hops.

Spin Cycle Red  - 5.75% ABV, 49 IBU
An intriguing spin cycle of English, German and American brewing techniques, Spin Cycle Red is a celebration of the classic English-style ESB. The perfect balance of malt and hops create an enjoyable and quaffable red ale. Spin Cycle’s specialty malts combine to provide an aroma of lightly toasted bread and caramel, while additions of American Noble hops add an herbal flavor for balance.

Sky Rail IPA - 6.25% ABV, 65 IBU
This single-hop, light-orange beer showcases the complexity and fruitiness of the Amarillo hop, with a clean and slightly sweet malt backdrop. Spicy orange, tangerine and grapefruit notes dominate this IPA.

Wrecking Ball Imperial Stout - 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs
We pulled out all the stops on this big Imperial Stout. Five types of dark, roasted malt are added to this beer to give it a complex flavor of coffee, chocolate and brown sugar. That much maltiness requires plenty of hops for balance. Two large hop additions prevent the dark malt form totally dominating this monster of a beer.

Schlafly Beers Available: Pale Ale, Summer Lager, Dry-Hopped APA, Oatmeal Stout, Raspberry Hefeweizen, Yakima Wheat Ale, Kolsch, Munich Dunkel, Session IPA, Cream IPA, Black IPA, Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout, Apollo Hop Trial, Raspberry Cider, Doppelbock
