Phil Begley, Managing Principal, Riverstone Organizational Advisors

Phil holds a bachelor’s degree in Control Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MBA from The Citadel.   Phil enjoyed a 24-year military career, including teaching leadership at the NROTC Unit at The Citadel.    He retired as a Commander.  Phil worked as a Manufacturing Manager for Michelin Tire Corporation and as the Director of Training and Development at Reliance Electric.  In 1994, Phil began consulting, working with companies in the areas of leadership, culture, collaboration and talent management. Among his clients in South Carolina are Michelin, BMW Manufacturing, Southeastern Freight Lines, Proterra, and Zeus Industrial Products.  As a member of the Chairman’s Club with TTISI, he is recognized as one of the top 100 assessment consultants in the US.  Phil has served on the boards of Christian Blind Mission International, Southside Christian School, Langston Charter Middle School and is the President of the Langston Foundation.

Chappelle Broome, Director of Human Resources/Disadvantaged Business Enterprize Liaison Officer, Columbia Metropolitan Airport

Ms. Chappelle Broome is Director of Human Resources/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Liaison Officer for the Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE). Chappelle is the first minority to ever hold a Director position in the 60+ years’ history of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.   She began her career at the Airport in 1998 as part of the Marketing Department. Chappelle wears many hats at the Airport.  She is responsible for all aspects of the Human Resource activities of the Airport District. including but not limited to: hiring, retention, discipline, termination, training, diversity/inclusion, Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance (EEOC), Affirmative Action, legal compliance, compensation and industrial organization.   She is the Airport’s Title VI Coordinator for the nearly 3000 acres of airport property; the Chief Diversity Official and the Airport’s designated Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Liaison Officer with the responsibility of overseeing airport compliance in providing opportunities to DBE/minority, women-owned and small/local businesses.

Molly Cherry, Labor & Employment Law Certified Specialist, Nexsen Pruet, LLC

Molly Cherry is a member in the Charleston and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina offices of Nexsen Pruet, LLC, where she practices in the areas of labor and employment law and general business litigation.  She is a certified specialist in labor and employment law and represents management in all types of employment matters including discrimination law, disability law, employment contracts and non-competition covenants, employment torts, minimum and overtime wages, harassment litigation and training, as well as regulatory compliance issues.  Ms. Cherry is chair of the South Carolina Employment and Labor Law Advisory Board.  She is a past chair of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the South Carolina Bar and is a past chair of the board for the Tri-County Human Resources Management Association in Charleston.  She is also a member of the Coastal Human Resources Management Association in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Ashley concentrates her practice in management-side employment litigation, including defending claims against wage and hour, discrimination, wrongful discharge, and breach of contract. She also has a broader general litigation practice that has allowed her to defend clients in complex toxic tort actions, class actions, asbestos personal injury defense, construction defect cases, and FELA claims for railroad clients. Ashley’s specialty is complex litigation, class actions and multi-plaintiff litigation. Ms. Gantt-Sorenson defends employers in employment-related claims and litigation—particularly TITLE VII litigation—in venues from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also provides advice and counsel to human resource professionals and employers on issues that arise daily, particularly in the areas of FMLA, ADA, ACA, FLSA, and general employment law matters. Britt Sims grew up in Lexington, South Carolina where she attended Lexington High School.  She went on to obtain her Bachelors of Science degree from Clemson University and her Masters of Business Administration degree from The Citadel. After working as a Marketing Director for a Charleston Chick-fil-A restaurant, Britt went on to work for the Chick-fil-A Corporate Office as an "Interim Manager" where she operated corporately owned restaurants on behalf of Chick-fil-A.  Britt continued her work for the corporate office as a Project Coordinator for the Training & Development department. In 2009, Britt was selected to own and operate her own Chick-fil-A location. Britt opened the Chick-fil-A of West Columbia in August of 2009 and her second location the Chick-fil-A at Saluda Pointe in Lexington in May 2014.
