New Beginnings for Camel Rock

As many of you will have noticed, the Camel Rock Restaurant is undergoing some very much needed and exciting changes starting with a complete renovation of the kitchen, the replacement of the roof and the construction of a sheltered back garden bar area. In order to do all of this, we are currently closed but we will be open for Osnat’s Art Exhibition & Drinks Party, on Sat 5 Dec from 16h00-19h00

Our plan for the coming months is to completely transform Camel Rock into a great local Pub & Restaurant that Scarborough will be proud of. This is clearly no small task and it will require some time to complete so, in the meantime, we apologise to everyone affected by the building noise and for any inconvenience caused.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Camel Rock once we reopen in the coming weeks. The opening date will be confirmed closer to the time.

Please join us for the opening of Osnat's 2015 Art exhibition!

Oystercatcher update

The oystercatcher nest was destroyed, but they are not giving up yet and have laid eggs in a new one. Unfortunately, this time it's in a far less sensible position: right in the middle of the beach where it widens to join the lagoon, in the open flat area often favoured as an impromptu sports ground. Well, I'm not sure they have much chance there, but at least we are aware of the nest and if you can keep dogs and kids away from the nest itself, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Re: Simons Town CPF

To insist that understaffing be remedied is certainly valid, but to demand ethnic conformity of police staff with the community on the basis of "international" standards is totally ridiculous in my opinion.  In South Africa ethnic interaction and integration need to be promoted.  The Simons Town Community Policing Forum should request the appointment of coloured and black replacements, and should cooperate fully with staff, not resign….

Ongoing water problem in Hilltop

Is anyone else on Hilltop Rd experiencing water outages at peak times?  I am having a hard time getting council to fix my problem and have heard that there may be other people also having problems.  Perhaps if we all get together we might have more of a voice.  According to  the council workmen the council water pump serving Hilltop Rd needs upgrading.. Due to my working hours I am quite difficult to get hold of so please sms or phone after hours.

Re: Death of a little Yorkie

To Sharon Walter on the death of her little Yorkie by a Pit Bull. I really do sympathise as my own little delightful courageous Yorkie passed away last year.  Please report this to the police.  As my friend Andre says ‘there are no bad dogs, only bad owners…’ as dogs are rarely vicious unless treated badly or encouraged by their owners.  But this has to be stopped before more dogs or, worse, a child are killed.

Break in at Camel Rock (again)

Julian (aka Julas) from ocean view (8x burglar at the camel rock) was arrested about a month back at the hub for stealing copper pipes after he had stolen tools from the site. Simonstown police insured me that they would let me know if and when he would get bail. finally i had some sleep and felt brave enough to do renovations which i have just begun knowing that he was in custody.

last night the alarm triggered at 3am and i was alerted by scarbs security and i responded. thoroughly checked everything and set the alarm again. then at 4am the alarm triggered again but Scarb security did not inform me and Julian broke in and ransacked the shop and stole about R3000 in cash and about R8000 in stock of cigarettes.

scarb security have let me down too many times.
simonstown could really have let me know that julian was to be released.

video footage of last nights break in clearly confirms that this was Julian.
