Dicamba is a benzoic acid herbicide that is applied to soil, plants or leaves. Dicamba is primarily applied to control broadleaf weeds and woody plants. In 1967, Dicamba was registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Dicamba finds application in agriculture, lawn and turf, forest, gardens, plants, and other domestic and non-commercial applications. It kills broadleaf weeds before and after they sprout. Dicamba imitates the plant hormone auxin that causes uncontrolled growth which kills plants. Dicamba can be used as a pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicide; however, it is majorly used for post emergent plant control. Dicamba is white to brown crystalline solid, having a variety of salt and acid formulations. It is commercially available in forms such as powders, granules, liquids, and liquid concentrates.
