It seems as though the trends in bridesmaid fashion change with every passing season. This summer you won’t being seeing much of those tight up-do hair styles or balloon-sleeve, brightly colored dresses (thank you!). Instead, brides are opting for casual, chic styles for their best gals. From the dresses to the accessories, here is what is trending this summer.

Dresses

Two-Piece Dresses: Especially popular with younger bridal parties, this style is an excellent dress choice for casual summer weddings. Bold two-pieces that show a little skin or mix-and-match style skirts and tops, like tulle and lace, are both options to consider for a wedding that gives the boot to the traditional bridesmaid dress.

One-Shoulder Dresses: Strapless dresses are perfect for summer weddings yet they don’t offer much when it comes to support, that’s why more brides are choosing one-shoulder dresses for their bridesmaids. A shoulder-baring silhouette gives your ladies the best of both designs with a touch of elegance and class. And some much needed support, too.

Hair Styles

The Bend: The days of overdone updos are over. Instead, bridal parties are choosing more relaxed styles, like a straight-meets-wavy style called the bend. To get this look, hair stylists recommend starting with a middle part, straightening the hair from root to tip. At ear level, use the straightener to create two or three bends, depending on hair length, leaving the ends of the hair straight.

Boho Braids: French, fishtail and classic braids are all the rage when it comes to bridal party hairstyles, except this summer's brides and bridesmaids are adding a bohemian twist: think loosely braided hair with lots of texture. For an extremely textured look add a texturizing spray to the hair before blow drying. After the braids are complete, loosen them up and tease for even more texture. Bridesmaids can wear the look down or half-up/half-down — a chic look for beach or garden weddings.

Accessories

Clutches: A small clutch can come in handy on your big day, and your bridal party should each have their own to carry, too. These small handbags should match the color theme of your wedding, from the dresses to the decor. If you’re using a bright color scheme, bold colors are not off limits. However, if your color palette is more traditional, opt for something neutral colored, such as cream or nude, or one with glitter or stones to add just a touch of sparkle. A clutch can hold all of the essentials, including sunglasses, lip stick and even a wedding emergency kit with all of those “just in case” items.

Metallics: From the shoes to the baubles, metallics can compliment almost any style of bridesmaid dress. This summer season, brides and their bridal parties are wearing lots of gold. Delicate hair accessories with a touch of shine look great in loose, casual hairstyles. Crowns and headpieces are also trending this summer. When it comes to the jewelry, a single, bold cuff bracelet can compliment a soft-colored, minimalist bridesmaid dress.
