Croan Cottages self catering holiday homes in Ireland
There are five self catering cottages at Croan and these are available to our guests for week, weekend or midweek breaks throughout the year.
Croan Cottages are fully furnished three bedroom and two bedroom spacious detached holiday cottages. Each holiday home has an open fire, a private furnished patio and barbeque area.
Although the cottages have a traditional style and are on an old estate, they were built recently and have been furnished to an exceptionally high standard, having Failte Ireland’s (Irish Tourist Board) highest rating of four stars.
All of our cottages are designated as ‘No Smoking’. Smoking is permittted outside.
Pets are permitted to stay with their owners in some of our cottages.
Croan Cottages Cuisine
Here at Croan, we want to make your holiday as relaxing as possible and for many of you, that might include a break from cooking!
If you expect to arrive too late in the evening to arrange shopping or a restaurant booking, if you are planning a day’s activities and would like to have your evening meal waiting for you on your return, or if you’d just rather have some delicious food prepared for you, just ask us. We offer a selection of dishes for lunch or dinner delivered to your door.
Each dish is available ready to heat or ready to serve. The choice available includes:
Irish Stew
Beef Bourguignon
Lamb in Rosemary and Thyme sauce
Fish Pie
Beef Lasagne
Vegetarian Lasagne
Our smallholding
We have been lucky over the last few years to be able to turn our dreams of operating a smallholding into a reality.
Our love of food, gardening and animals has inspired us to expand from a very small veg patch to now stocking Cattle, Large Black Pigs, Goats, Sheep, Geese, Ducks and Chickens, as well as producing most of the vegetables and fruit we need.
New for 2016 – Smallholding Courses in Ireland
During 2016 we are delighted to offer some ‘Introduction to Smallholding’ courses at Croan. Full details of our smallholding courses are available on our Smallholding courses in Ireland page.
As well as working on the restoration of the old Walled Kitchen garden at Croan, we have now planted Plum, Pear, Cherry and Apple trees. Many of the Trees have been sourced from Irish Seed Savers who propogate rare native Irish varieties. We have tried to find as many varieties local to the Kilkenny area as we could.
