(June 20 to June 26, 2016)

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette! Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area

Occasions

This week, we give a hearty hello to AceOfShades who is very much familiar with the RPGMaker line, and had included a sample of his work with RPGMaker MP in his introduction. He came to exchange reources and ideas and hopes to be a productive member. He was since then greeted by Bounty Hunter Lani and Melana, along with our two canine admins: DerVVulfman and MetalRenard.

We got flooded with birthdays this week as one day saw the birthdays of Pherione, GrueMaster, Immortaldefense, TheGreatGamerDude, GarthAlpha and suzuma. It was later followed by the birthdays of phemto, BlackCatSG, Steel Beast 6Beets, Flip_Lightblade and defzelda. After that, tfieldmusic, NecroTheif, biomarco1979 and TheMasterR shared a birthday in common. It didn't take long before Justvisiting's, theGRIM's and york870198's birthday passed. And before the week was up, neptis, EN489, Mobylick18 and quantumpanic had their birthdays together.

General Chat

Many days can one surf the net, but not know the members of their community. Here at Save-Point, we let everyone have a glance into What's on the mind of their fellow members. And this week, MetalRenard, our vulpine admin teased our resident werewolf about his dialup modem connection. But all is fair as when the Fox in the Music Box said he was going to get ready for a two-year stay in Japan, DerVVulfman suggested he be wary if he had any complaints to make to Sony.

If you asked Bounty Hunter Lani the question of "What are YouTubing?", she may tell you she just found out how to handle her Internet Service Provider if they ever mess up again. And on a more humorous track, Lani found another video by Stevie T that shows how hard it is to be part of a team.

Many things of a political agenda were happening if you found our friend and asked him "What's up, Kainers?!" While Bounty Hunter Lani and DerVVulfman debated about what was taking center stage in Social and News Media, Kain Nobel posted a video which he felt explained various issues which included existing problems with the 'no-fly' terror watch list. He hoped to get back into game development, but the political circus has been too engaging and time consuming. And even though he has distain for guns, he too is exercizing his 2nd Amendment right for protection. Still, of all the candidates running, he grimaces over the thoughs of a so-called legacy president.

Games Development

Development Discussion

DerVVulfman visited the Maps and Screenshots thread this week, posting a link to a video showing his ABS system working in tandem with vehicles.

DerVVulfman also entered the Common Sense Corner to remind people to deactivate scripts that are being tested, otherwise unexpected results could happen if you forget.

And ChickenFetus asked for Input on what sort of games that players would be interested as he's been considering designing a game based on either an eco system or animal survival game. As a poll, he gave various voting selections, the last option asking the voter for a clearer definition or example. Likewise, DerVVulfman asked ChickenFetus to clearly define the voting options themselves with examples. Afterwhich, DerVVulfman placed his vote as he recalls helping a friend with a similar game. And the same voting option likewise intrigued MetalRenard.

Upcoming Projects

A new music track had been added to Zackwell's game, Rain in January. And he added a link for member enjoyment. And in answer to Siletrea, he plans the game to be freeware, though he may consider a small fee if more people wished to participate in the game's creation.

General Support

To help out criz, Bounty Hunter Lani bumped his request for help with perspective as she hopes it gets some attention.

Tutorials

For those who understands the concept of cohesion, or how strong elements of a module belong togther, and coupling, or the degree in which two pieces of software interact, then the topic by DoubleX is for you. This week, he Introduced Component Cohesion/Coupling Digraphs, aming to cover basic knowledge on Component Cohesion/Coupling Digraphs and demonstrate their practicality.

Material Development

Scripts Database

A few years have passed since DerVVulfman last updated the Melly-Mel's Calendar System. Revisiting the script, he fixed an issue which he said updated the maps events more often than they needed, while he broke down his code into more managable components.

Meanwhile, DrHouse93 worked out a means to add Draining Skills For Various Battlesystems, supplying the various segments of code which you would need to manually edit and insert into your system.

Script Requests

swickster was curious about combining the Lycan ABS with a Controller as he would like to see it work with a gamepad. DerVVulfman replied that his ABS came with a well-known and long-lived input script, but one that eliminated the default gamepad control that RPGMaker XP had built in. But DerVVulfman also suggested the use of his own input script which had no such issues. While swickster appears to have experienced some issues on installing the new input script, DerVVulfman ran a test and explained how to change some of the input keys in the configuration section to match. Incidentally, they both commented on an issue with the Lycan ABS's built-in pixelmovement feature that made the player character move surprisingly quick when not controlled by the player himself.

When BeJeremiah needed Help with Mousie, it didn't take long for DerVVulfman to show up to assist. While BeJeremiah did solve one issue on his own, he needed insight on how the mouse system's hovered icon system works. Once DerVVulfman explained how the methods worked and where they were located, BeJeremiah was able to understand how one of the tiles in his interactive tile system was being detected.

Meanwhile, Siletrea bumped her topics for both the dancing minigame and in battle dodging mechanic script.

The Trader's Workshoppe

Bounty Hunter Lani went looking for new artists and unveiled a workshop for Mizu's Art. The artist works on consignments and you can see various headshots, portraits and the like. While she generally does not deal with commercial work, that can be discussed as Bounty Hunter Lani posted her general terms of use as well as a link to her page for further inquiries.

Bounty Hunter Lani also found a musician if you needed any of Dibur's Art. The composer specializes in JRPG and anime-styled game music and a youtube video showcasing his battle themes for those wishing to listen. The album he has available grants non-exclusive, royalty-free license for both commericial or non-commercial projects. However, he is available for commissioned work, and Bounty Hunter Lani provided a link to his site.

Music and Audio

If you wish to get your groove on, check out the new track in MetalRenard's Music. While not actually new, it is something he just updated, and worth a listen.

Well, that's it for this week.
