Over the April 8th – 10th weekend, the Sault Minor Hockey Association’s Soo Jr. Atom ‘AA’ took part in the 2016 Atom ‘AA’ Ontario Hockey Federation Championships in Hamilton, Ontario with teams from London, Vaughan, Milton, Hamilton and the Soo Jr. Greyhounds.
In the first four games of the round robin, the Jr. Greyhounds went 4 – 0 with 6 – 3 win over the London Jr. Knights, 15 – 0 win over the Hamilton Huskies along with a 5 – 0 shutout victory over the Vaughan Rangers. In game four, the Atom ‘AA’ Jr. Greyhounds won their final round robin contest 7 – 3 against the Milton Winterhawks.
In the 2016 Atom ‘AA’ OHF Championship semi – final on Sunday April 10th, the Soo Jr. Atom ‘AA’ Jr. Greyhounds fell to the London Jr. Knights with a score of 3 – 2.
Scoring both goals, Owen Case found the back of the Knights net for both unassisted power play goals for the Soo while Tyler Greco was between the pipes for the Jr. Greyhounds final game of the 2015 – 2016 Atom ‘AA’ season. The London Jr. Knights went on to capture the 2016 Atom ‘AA’ OHF Championship gold medal with a 5 – 1 win over the Milton Winterhawks.
