MONROE, LA—(Marketwired – November 05, 2015) – Dr. David Finley, a world–renowned cosmetic dentist, recently attended a seminar in Las Vegas that trained dentists how to more effectively place dental implants using CEREC technology.

The Sept. 17–20 event was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CEREC, a technology that uses CAD/CAM and 3–D technology to help dentists map out dental implant procedures and place lifelike crowns in one day.

“This technology cuts down on post–operative discomfort and the amount of time the patient needs to spend in the chair,” Dr. Finley said. “The 3–D technology and guided surgery lets us see the most appropriate spot to place the implant, which improves the overall success rate of the procedure.”

CEREC technology can also design and create a dental crown in just one visit, eliminating the need for the patient to wear a temporary crown. Temporary crowns are often ill–fitting and uncomfortable for patients.

The recent CEREC celebration included lectures and courses by some of the world's leading restorative and cosmetic dentists.

“CEREC is a technology that has revolutionized the way we treat patients,” Dr. Finley said. “We've found that the CAD/CAM technology gives us a better fit than traditional crowns, which feels much more natural and comfortable in the patient's mouth.”

Bayou Dental Group offers preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, pediatrics, endodontics, sedation dentistry and dental implant surgery. The dental practice provides some of the best cosmetic dentistry in the Monroe area, as well as root canals and state–of–the–art dental implants. Dr. Finley uses cone beam imaging technology for implant placement.

Dr. Finley has taken hundreds of hours in continuing education and is the 61st Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. There are fewer than 30 dentists in the world who hold both fellowships. He has been voted as one of America's Top Dentists by the Consumer Research Council of America every year since 2003.

Dr. Finley's connection to Monroe and the surrounding community stretches back to his years growing up there. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeast Louisiana University and then graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 1985. He is one of the first dentists in Louisiana to be certified in laser treatment by the World Clinical Laser Institute.

Dr. Finley views dentistry as an art and is the only dentist to have earned medals five years in a row at the annual American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry smile gallery competition. He has published cases in the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry and has written articles for the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry and for the publication of the Louisiana Academy of General Dentistry.
