LOS ANGELES, CA—(Marketwired – May 21, 2015) – Miceli Infrastructure Consulting (MIC) today announced Marybeth Miceli, MIC President, has been named to the American Aerospace Technical Academy (AATA) Board of Directors.

AATA is a 501c3 non–profit corporation established to directly address the underemployment condition of young people and veterans in Los Angeles as well as to help solve the shortfall of qualified technicians in the non destructive testing (NDT) industry. Los Angeles–based AATA is bridging the gap by providing NDT training to at–risk young men, women and veterans that includes both the knowledge and hands–on practical experience needed by NDT personnel to secure well–paying positions (www.americanaerospace.org). Its inaugural NDT class will begin this summer at California State University – Los Angeles (CSULA).

AATA's mission is to provide NDT training, free of charge, to returning U.S. Veterans, as well as men and women living below the poverty line in Los Angeles. By providing these individuals with an intensive 12–week course, they are able to immediately enter the workforce to obtain their on–the–job hours and achieve their Level 1 certification at no cost to the employer or the individual. AATA is strengthening communities, helping at–risk individuals and veterans and local Los Angeles businesses. While it will be applying for government grants, at this time AATA is funded solely by the generosity of individual and corporate donors.

Ms. Miceli brings 20 years of NDT expertise and 15 years of non–profit experience, including serving on the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Board of Directors. She currently also serves as the Infrastructure Committee Chair for ASNT, as well as Chair of their Section Operations Council. A materials science engineer by training, Ms. Miceli obtained her BS from Johns Hopkins University and her MS from Virginia Tech. Her company, Miceli Infrastructure Consulting, specializes in technology transfer and business development for Structural Health Monitoring and advanced NDT methods in the bridge industry. Ms. Miceli was the creator of the social media NDT awareness campaign #whyiNDT.
