MIAMI, FL—(Marketwired – October 14, 2015) – Eventcrowd, the digital agency that organizes Social Media Week Miami, has launched a YouTube channel releasing keynote talks and panel discussions held during the Social Media Week Miami conference. Approximately 40 videos will be released during the next few weeks.

Part of the international digital movement known as Social Media Week, the Miami conference sold out to local attendees. “People couldn't get in,” said Eventcrowd Partner Lawrence Pedrosa. “We didn't want them to also be shut out from experiencing the great content our speakers brought to Social Media Week Miami.”
By opening day #SMWMiami was trending number three on national Twitter, stressing the quality, reach and interconnectivity of the Social Media Week brand. The conference reached more than 178 million people on social media. Social Media Week Miami wrapped up with a closing party co–sponsored by LiveAnswer and Atlantico Rum, co–owned by International Recording Artist, Businessman and Miami Native Enrique Iglesias.

Social Media Week Miami hosted five of Forbes Magazine's Top Social Media Influencers and other highly respected personalities in the digital space. Metropolitan Museum of Art Digital Director Sree Sreenivasan shared lessons learned during his two years leading a 70 digital person team at the MET in New York City. CEO and Co–Founder of MarketingNutz Pam Moore spoke about MultiChannel Marketing — Earning Attention and Delivering Value in a MultiScreen World. Chief Marketing Officer of Meddle Ted Coine addressed how corporate heads Lead to Win in the Social Age. Attorney and Businessman Glen Gilmore delivered a presentation on Marketing in the Age of Connected Devices: How to Tap into the Internet of Things for Business. Gilmore also joined Writer and Consultant Ann Tran to explore Adventures in Hospitality and Travel Marketing. Tran too delivered a second presentation on How to Make Money as a Social Media Influencer and WIN More Business. Joining Tran on this presentation were her #InfluencerChat partners, Rebekah Radice and Diana Adams. Forbes Magazine Number One Social Media Influencer Sean Gardner spoke about Connectedness: An Opportunity to be Extraodinary. Gardner proposed that social media be used to fulfill global needs and break cultural barriers. He then dashed off to catch a flight to Brussels where he addressed diplomats at the United Nations regarding the use of social media.
Government's growing involvement in social media, was a key takeaway from Social Media Week Miami. U.S. Ambassador Dan Sepulveda and Principal Deputy Coordinator Jean Manes spoke about how the U.S. State Department is Joining the Latin America Digital Conversation. While the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Miami Nathalie Olijslager and the British Consul General in Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands David Prodger launched Social Media Week Miami with a presentation on Connected Governments and how social media has influenced diplomacy. Panelists on The Dark Web: A Hostile Space for Our Children explained how law enforcement monitors pedophilic activities on the Internet. The Sex & The Internet panel addressed revenge porn legislation.
Cuba: How a Nation Comes Online focused the opportunities available and to be created by increasing Internet connectivity in this island nation, and the barriers to technological accessibility. Moderated by Univision Anchor Gloria Ordaz, this bilingual panel included U.S. Ambassador Sepulveda, Professor and President Ex–Officio of the Association for Study of the Cuban Economy Ted Henken, Cuban–based Journalist and Author of the Chiringa de Cuba Blog Carlos Alberto Perez, Roots of Hope Executive Director Raul Moas and Nearshore Americas Director of Research Sean Goforth. Popular Cuban Journalist and Blogger Yusnaby Perez and 14 y Medio's Alejandro Gonzalez were on hand to provide additional commentary.
Digital training for journalists and communicators featured prominently throughout Social Media Week Miami. Univision, a principal conference underwriter and media partner with its major, state–of–the–art studios, production facilities and operations in Miami–Dade County tapped Anchor Enrique Acevedo to explore the Social Media Strategies Behind Political Campaigns. Moreover Univision convened a panel to explore a question that its journalists ask every day. That is: What is the Language of Digital: English, Spanish or Spanglish? Moderated by Univision/Fusion Anchor Marianna Atencio, panelists included Hispanicize Founder Manny Ruiz, The Immigrant Archive Project Co–Founder and The Man Guide Publisher Tony Hernandez, Flama Comedian Joanna Housmann and Bilingual Blogger Jeanette Kaplun.

Media content also included an amusingly contentious and insightful panel on Advocacy Journalism in the Digital Age. Moderated by Attorney and Journalist Teresita Chavez Pedrosa, this panel featured Nationally–known Anchor Rick Sanchez, WPLG Anchor Constance Jones, Photography is not a Crime Founder and Journalist Carlos Miller, The Root Senior Writer Kirsten West Savali and Fusion Reporter Daniel Rivero. Additional panels dealt with the topics of How to Adapt Content for Mobile, Rising Above the Noise: Making Your Content Shine, The Great Decentralization of Journalism and Social Media Education: Training Millennials for Successful Professional Careers. Phone2Action addressed Digital Persuasion and the Social Media Strategies Used by Winning Advocacy Groups. Nuvi representatives demonstrated the importance of social listening.
For those whose language of preference or interest was Spanish, Social Media Week Miami provided options. Eventcrowd Partner Ernesto Sosa led the conversation with a panel that examined Hispanic participation on social channels and asked: Los Hispanos en Las Redes Sociales: ¿Conectados o Desconectados? Panelists included AGUA CEO Miguel Delgado, Sentisis Business Development Director Jessica Mora, New Marketing Today Co–Founder and Chief Digital Officer Adrian Pelaez and Neorika Journalist and Editor Fernando Nunez Noda.
Presentations in Spanish also included: Como Hacer del Personal Branding un Negocio Rentable Enfocandose en el Exito del Modelo y Despues en la Popularidad, La Internet in Spanglish: Nuevos Usuarios y Nuevos Lideres, and Social Awareness: How Virality Enables Social Conversations. This first presentation featured Astrologer and Behavioral Coach Mia Pineda, known to her fans as Mia Astral, and members of the production team behind the woman who draws five million unique visitors to her website every month and has an eight month waiting list to see clients. Using Mia as a case study, panelists explored how digital may be used to pursue one's passion, create a brand and drive sales. In the second panel listed, Google's Mariana Hernandez and Social Media Week Mexico City Organizer Paula Cutuli explored the popularity and influence of YouTubers. The third presentation was a discussion between Univision's Vice President of Digital Borja Echevarria and Spanish Journalist Delia Rodriguez, during which they explored the alchemy underlying viral content.
Social Media Week Miami succeeded in delivering a plethora of marketing and business sessions. Head of North America Marketing for Socialbakers Evan James gave a keynote presentation on Social Media Marketing in the U.S. and Latin America. Head of Prezi International Drew Banks shared Frontline Marketing Lessons on Making Content the Lifeblood of Your Brand. Florida International University School of Business Professor Dr. Nancy Richmond led a three–hour, hands–on training on Maximizing the Linked In Experience.
Additional marketing and business sessions included: Social Commerce: Opportunities to Monetize Social Media, Learnings from Marketing Spirits and Alcohol on Social Media, Leveraging Celebrities for Social Media Success, Agile Marketing: The Power of Real Time Business, Predictive Analytics: The Future of Social Media Marketing, Creating Visual Content that Engages and Sells, Visual Selling in Real Estate, The Pivotal Role that Social Media Plays in the World of Music, The Art of Community Management in a Mobile World and Livestreaming: The Missing Link Between Television and Social Media.
Conversations regarding tourism and art had to be part of Social Media Week Miami, particularly since the conference took place at the Miami Ad School in Wynwood — an area known for paintings on the sides of buildings and street murals. The conference included discussions regarding how The Collaborative Economy is Disrupting the Tourism Business, How Mobile is Powering the Traveler Experience and Reinventing Lodging Through Digital.
