HANOI, VIETNAM—(Marketwired – Feb 6, 2015) – According to the latest annual Global Salary Survey from professional recruitment firm Robert Walters, companies in Vietnam will face keen competition for top talent in 2015. While the country continued to attract new companies, particularly in manufacturing, this consequently resulted in competition for candidates within an already limited talent pool.

Although a number of job opportunities were available across different sectors, the scarcity of specialist skills in the market continued to pose recruitment challenges for employers. To address the acute shortage of technical capabilities, companies started to focus on attracting Vietnamese professionals working overseas. Vietnamese job seekers with experience in established overseas markets had an added advantage over other local candidates.

Figures from the survey suggested candidates who switched jobs in 2014 could command an average 10–25% salary increment. This trend is likely to continue in 2015.

Jon Whitehead, Country Manager of Robert Walters Vietnam, comments:

“The largest challenges faced by companies as they compete for top Vietnamese talent is the shortage of candidates and lack of niche skill sets. In order to attract top–tier professionals, hiring managers have to consider holistic employment packages which include clear internal career development plans and attractive benefits. Another viable option to widening the candidate pool is to attract overseas Vietnamese back home. Their international exposure, diverse skill sets and bilingual abilities can create a dynamic workforce for Vietnam.”
