David, who has more than 25 years of experience in public transportation, will coordinate sales and projects for Kapsch in the region. The technology company, based in Austria, has a strong footprint in intelligent transportation systems and telecommunication networks for rail operators worldwide, and has hired David to develop business in the public transit segment in North America.

David Brandauer brings with him a wealth of North American and international experience in both operations and technologies in public transit. “We are very proud to have an expert on board, who has the proven ability and experience to drive corporate start–ups and who has already contributed to substantial growth of several companies in the industry,” says Kari Kapsch, CEO of Kapsch CarrierCom.

David has held critical positions for several companies, most recently as COO at BLIC Inc., a leading Intelligent Transportation Systems consulting firm focused on public transportation. Former companies in his career include: Trapeze Group, INIT–Innovation in Transportation Inc. and OUTREACH. Furthermore, David is active in several industry associations, including APTA (American Public Transportation Association), CUTA (Canadian Urban Transit Association) and ITS America (Intelligent Transportation Society of America) where he has held various positions of responsibility.

On a personal level, David has a strong affinity for the United States, where he has resided for 20 years, for Canada through his birth, upbringing and education, and for Austria, through his father, who was born and raised in Austria.

Successful newcomer in public transport
Kapsch entered the urban public transportation business in 2012 with their offer of TETRA–networks to transit system operators. Since then, it has won several projects, including one in the UK and one in Rio de Janeiro for the implementation of full TETRA networks. In a pilot project in Linz, Austria, Kapsch has shown how machine–to–machine–communication can help improve operations for public transportation. After successful integration of the Belgian Prodata Mobility Systems NV, a division of Prodata Technology Group, Kapsch was able to expand its portfolio with solutions for Automated Fare Collection (AFC) and for Computer Aided Dispatch and Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL).
