MARIETTA, GA—(Marketwired – September 29, 2015) – An Atlanta dental practice that provides all phases of dental care has added a new associate dentist trained in placing dental implants for patients with missing teeth.

Dr. Lauren Bowersox, an Atlanta native, joined Atlanta West Dentistry in August and is trained in oral surgery techniques and offers IV conscious sedation to fearful patients.

“Dr. Bowersox brings a wealth of experience to the already advanced list of procedures that are offered at Atlanta West Dentistry,” said Dr. Travis Watson, who operates Atlanta West Dentistry with his wife, Dr. Cameron Watson. “We are so proud to have her as a part of our team. She is a fantastic, down–to–earth, person who cares for her patients deeply.”

Dr. Bowersox earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. She completed a two–year residency at Georgia Regents University, where she focused on dental implant placement, oral surgery and IV conscious sedation. She now works with the university as an assistant clinical instructor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation. Dr. Bowersox is one of the youngest dentists in the country to receive a Mastership with International Congress of Oral Implantologists. This year, she was recognized as the Outstanding Table Clinician during the annual Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting.

“The patients and staff are extremely impressed with Dr. Bowersox’s caring bedside manner,” Dr. Travis Watson said. “We feel like we are one of the most advanced practices in West Cobb, and this just furthers our confidence to be able to offer these services to our long–term and new patients.”

Atlanta West Dentistry, 1808 Powder Springs Road, is a state–of–the–art office built in 2013. The practice provides all phases of dentistry, including preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, sedation dentistry and dental implants. Dr. Travis Watson and Dr. Cameron Watson use the latest techniques and technology to provide thorough and compassionate dental care to all of their patients.

The Atlanta dental practice offers the cosmetic solution Invisalign, which uses clear aligners to gradually move teeth into a more appropriate position; dental implants to replace single missing teeth and entire arches of missing teeth; laser dentistry to treat patients with gum disease; and comfortable digital impressions. The staff also uses a handheld device known as The Wand, which delivers local anesthesia without pain.

A Georgia native, Dr. Travis Watson earned his undergraduate degree in microbiology at the University of Georgia. He then received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Following dental school, Dr. Travis Watson was accepted into the General Practice Residency at University of Alabama–Birmingham, one of the country’s top residency programs. The program expanded Dr. Travis Watson’s dental skills to include oral surgery, dental implant placement and IV sedation.

Dr. Travis Watson has completed more than 2,000 hours of continuing education over the past 10 years. He has trained at The Dawson Academy and Pankey Institute, two of most prestigious dental training institutes in the country. Dr. Travis Watson is one of the youngest dentists to have earned a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry. In 2014, he was rated in Atlanta Magazine as one of the city’s 5–star dentists, and during his residency, he was presented with the Most Outstanding Resident award. Dr. Travis Watson also holds a Fellowship in the International College of Dentists and is president of the Georgia Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Cameron Watson earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 2002. She trained in sedation dentistry with the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. Dr. Cameron Watson renders safe nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation to patients suffering from dental anxiety or for patients who need multiple treatments completed in one visit.

Dr. Cameron Watson is trained to place Invisalign for patients with crooked teeth, gapped teeth or mild bite issues. She completed her training in orthodontics with the Aligntech Institute — the makers of Invisalign — and American Orthodontic Society. She also received training in endodontics from the Essential Dental Training Center in New York City.

Dr. Cameron Watson was listed by Cobb Life Magazine as a rising star younger than 40. She holds memberships with the Georgia Dental Association, American Dental Association, Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, Northeast District Dental Society and American Orthodontic Society.

Atlanta West Dentistry recently implemented cone beam computer tomography (CBCT) to increase proficiency in diagnosing and planning treatment for procedures like dental implants. Using the the CBCT, Dr. Travis Watson can map out the entire dental implant procedure down to the exact millimeter. The precision of the machine increases the success rate of dental implant placement while decreasing sensitivity and overall recovery time for the patient.

Atlanta West Dentistry supports the Kiwanis Club, Alzheimer’s Association, WellStar Foundation, March of Dimes’ March for Babies, The Center for Children & Young Adults of Cobb County (CCYA), Good Samaritan Health Center and MUST Ministries.
