Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, who suffered cardiac arrest yesterday, died on Monday at Chennai Apollo Hospitals.
Yesterday, the hospital, where she was admitted on September 22, had said in a statement - "The honourable CM of Tamil Nadu, who is undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals, suffered a cardiac arrest this evening."
And late around midnight, Apollo Hospital's Joint Managing Director Sangita Reddy had tweeted - "TN CM is critical. Multi-speciality team trying everything including ecmo."
Soon after the Apollo's statement came, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had spoken to Tamil Nadu Governor Vidyasagar Rao and had enquired about Jayalalithaa's health.
Rao, who is is also Governor of Maharashtra, had rushed to Chennai from Mumbai and went to the hospital.
